Houston is now controlled by the liberal socialists.
Are they still asking outrageous prices for those condos downtown so people can get hassled when they walk the streets to the "convenient" restaurants, clubs and light rail?

Sorry but the huge influx of illegals immigrants and the billions of dollars needed to support them isn't going to be made up by a possible $10 discount on a handjob at some jack shack.

Tunnels and "extra jobs" for HPD.

I will be visiting a family member in central Houston (Texas and Austin) on Saturday and I'll let you know next week how many homeless people I see and whether or not I'm hassled.

Have you seen any news clips of any "hot babes" from the South who look anything like the ads on BedPage?

As for Austin, when the Democrats ruled the legislative branch and the Gov's Mansion there was Hattie .... et al. It was OK.

Now that the Loons have invaded Austin, which occurred back in the late 70's and early 80's, and the "minorities" were displaced from East 6th and East 6th was turned into "Gaysville" with bean sprout eaters wearing suspenders driving "Beemers," the ugly ducklings who have to settle for same sex relationships have turned the place into a social cesspool with providers who really don't enjoy opposite sex activities, but do it support their girlfriends.

Do you actually believe that the invasion at our Southern border began when Trump was elected?

All Americans, not only in the States most heavily affected but in every place in this country, are rightly disturbed by the large numbers of illegal aliens entering our country. The jobs they hold might otherwise be held by citizens or legal immigrants. The public service they use impose burdens on our taxpayers. That's why our administration has moved aggressively to secure our borders more by hiring a record number of new border guards, by deporting twice as many criminal aliens as ever before, by cracking down on illegal hiring, by barring welfare benefits to illegal aliens. In the budget I will present to you, we will try to do more to speed the deportation of illegal aliens who are arrested for crimes, to better identify illegal aliens in the workplace as recommended by the commission headed by former Congresswoman Barbara Jordan. We are a nation of immigrants. But we are also a nation of laws. It is wrong and ultimately self-defeating for a nation of immigrants to permit the kind of abuse of our immigration laws we have seen in recent years, and we must do more to stop it.

You don't have to tell me about Houston. One bag lady who I politely didn't donate to threw a chunk of concrete at me.

Oh, Speedo, visits a town and all of a sudden he's an expert on it. But like most carpet baggers they drift in and want to tell the local citizens how to run their business. He doesn't even live in one and he's an expert on its HISTORY!!!!

Every day when I walk to the office I pass from 15 to 20 homeless male and female beggars hanging around talking shit with each other .... while another 10 or so are still curled up in a door way with their feces and urine nearby ..... that's after passing two tent villages under freeways within walking distance of downtown .... so his opinion doesn't mean squat with is "slice of life" experience ... visiting!!!!!!!!

Next thing you know he'll be saying he knows more about Houston than you do!!!!!! Because he's visited friends and family there!!!!!!

Here’s another Austin expert.

Doesn’t even know where Clarksville is. But he seems to know where “gaysville” is.

And he’s been willing to fight about it for years,

LL doesn’t live here and hasn’t for what, 30 years? Since before the dam was built? Since Methuselah was in Buster Browns? I think we’ve heard all of those over the years from LL.

But he’s the authority.

Oh give me a break Yssup. What LL said is true and you know it. And I've lived in Austin since 86.

I totally disagree, Ellen, and you know it. What LL said was the opinion of an avowed Austin hater who claims to know everything about our town despite fleeing (or being run out) decades ago.

If you want the AUSTIN of 1986, then you might want to consider living elsewhere because this isn’t the same place it was. Neither is Houston. Or anywhere.

Back to the insults? No comment. I'll continue to stay clear of the gutter and discuss ISSUES.

BTW, I'll add that your dislike for "carpetbaggers", which I assume means anyone who moved to Texas from elsewhere to better their lives in someway, is amusing. These "carpetbaggers" are turning the state from red to blue and you seem to have trouble accepting that. Very doubtful the state of Texas turns blue in 2020 POTUS election. Possibly by 2024. More than likely in 2028. I'm hoping that we are both around and still active on ECCIE to see your reaction whenever it does happen.

California is not only America's poorest state. It is also among the richest. According to the Census Bureau, its median household income in 2016 was $11,500 above the national average. ... California's GDP rose 78% in real terms in the two decades to 2017, overtaking Britain to become the world's fifth-largest economy.

Unfortunately, the negatives you mention about the state are probably true without looking. I wouldn't want to live there but the state obviously has its pluses. Many on this forum point to "the economy" when assessing how well Trump is doing as POTUS. If you use the same criterion on California, the state is doing very well.
The wealth in California is mainly because of the Entertainment and Tech Industry. Without it California would be even worse off.

Actually the Arts and Entertainment sector was way down the line in value added to their GDP.

https://www.statista.com/statistics/...p-by-industry/

In every state there is usually one industry which is all-important to the state GDP. The oil and gas industry in Texas. The financial services industry in NY. Take those industries away from those states and they too would be worse off.
