Well, let's see if this thread stays nice and fun, or if it gets twisted somehow into being some sort of way to beat up on folks after they've let their guard down.

Now, as to Ms. Sobule:


I saw(and heard) Jill perform this at the Cactus Cafe opening for Darden Smith back in the 1990s with her tiny guitar that looked more like a lute.

She opened her set with "Don't Fuck With Me," and then proceeded to let us all know how much of a man-hating lesbian she was, her trials and tribulations of making a music video with Fabio, and how she was thrilled to learn of a former high school girl she knew who was now a porn star doing five ways and how she took great delight in watching this young woman perform sex acts she obviously wasn't interested in doing. So thrilled in fact, she used some of the elements as a basis for a song(I believe it was the inspiration for "Karen by Night," but it's been over 15 years...)

Charming.

And talented.

That said - I was there to listen to and see Darden, and Jill never got another dime from me...
