Well he didn't have to leave, why couldn't he just quit being a mod. Maybe he got tired of dealing with the opposition or because he didn't want to be too strict but someone was forcing him to act tough. I guess it's hard being a mod, you will never be able to please everyone, not to mention having to invest time and effort to make things work smooth especially when you have people pulling you in two different directions. My guess is that he was tired of this crap and taking fire from everybody.
