That would really throw the election into chaos by splitting the gay vote. Who knows where the Social Conservatives would place there votes.

Well guys....it comes down to this. Romney MUST win! This is such a critical election, with our very way of life on the line. Are we a capitalist country, or are we socialist? I never thought we would EVER see such a radical in the white house in our lifetime. This is not your father's Democrat, folks, Obama is a radical socialist, with communist and Muslim influences. This is not incompetence boys, there is a purposeful agenda at work here to bring this country down. We have a "Manchurian Candidate" here, and should he win the next four years, you will not know this country. When I see "Obama 2012" stickers on someone's car bumper, I look inside to see how ill-informed this person looks! Remember ABO? That is anybody BUT Obama! Run Mitt, RUN! And Puh-leeeze stop sayin that the President is a nice guy, will ya???

The question is, "Can Romney Win?". The obvious answer minus the partisan bickering is yes and so can Obama. We are so far out that any speculation on the final result is worthless. The only real thing that is useful are the strategies, openings, and gaffs. We must always remember that this is actually 50 different elections and not one election. Someone can overy whelmingly win the popular vote and lose the election in a electoral landslide. I think the more divided the country becomes the more likely this outcome. Liberal bastions like California, New York, and Illinois can go for Obama at 90% but anything over 51% is wasted. Romney could eak out wins in 35 other states and win in a walk. That's strategy. Kind of the opposite of the Hillary run. She didn't know that California was a winner take all state and she was counting on a close second place finish to stay with Obama.

Well said! People need to understand, Obama isn't incompetent; the damage he does, is by design. It's one thing, to go to a mediocre doctor who does the best he can; it's quite another thing, to go to an excellent doctor who is actively trying to kill you.

Having Obama for president, is like having Hannibal Lecter for your doctor.

If Obama was just in over his head, and was failing because of lack of experience or intelligence, he would be far less dangerous to the country.

The howling masses are really not commanding the airwaves. Only a small portion. The electoral college was a good idea when the country was young and access to information was limited. ain't so anymore. Popular vote is what should count. Also will serve to keep Federal politics apart from state politics.

Additionally, when every vote counts, turnout will rise.

Howling masses are what we have in this forum. I believe we still have a silent majority that will decide the election.

and oh yeah, the Founding Fathers had a good idea in 1786. So did the folks who wrote the ten commandments. Just think how different their world view might have been if they'd had a telephone, or a vaccine against smallpox, or an educated population,

The "Founding Fathere" argument is a cop out.

The electoral college was designed to maintain states rights. It prevents major cities from deciding the election. The electoral college makes it so every vote does count. Your arguments for the popular vote are the arguments made against it in creating the electoral college in the first place.

The flaw is that the population has come to believ that the government should run as a democracy. It should not.

Thanks! I thought the Hannibal Lecter reference was a nice touch.

Talking about McCain/Palin, basically McCain handed the election to Obama by selecting Palin. Palin appeals to the far right, not the moderates. McCain had been considered a moderate and could've won the election easily if he would have picked a moderate VP. The problem with partisan politics is that politicians keep selling their goods to the party's base, and in reality that base doesn't need selling. They're in the bag, they would vote for Mickey Mouse if it were their candidate. It's the swing vote that matters, those with no allegiance to either party that help politicians win elections and sincerely, Palin was a scary thought for the independent and moderate voters.

If McCain would have picked someone like Colin Powell or Condolezza Rice, Obama would have been toast. So McCain's lack of judgement pretty much gave us Obama.

Considering how bad the economy was on January 20, 2009, that might be an extremely slippery slope for the Mittster!
When Obama took office in January 2009, the DJIA was a liitle over 8,000. Today it is over 11,600. Obama gave me a 2% pay raise, after taxes, by lowering Social Security taxes by 2% -- $2500 directly into my pocket. Job market??? I'm sure a Republican would say Obama has not done enough in this area. I'm sure a Democrat would say that Obama saved the U.S. automotive industry and after the unemployment rate peaked due to Bush's failures, the economoy is improving.

My 401k, income, and job security are MUCH better than they were when Bush left the oval office.

You really don't get it do you speed racer. That 2% is your money and it always was your money. You didn't get a pay raise you deferred your SSN payments. 30 years from now that 2% will be more like a 10% deduction in your SSN payouts. Obama saw you coming and you still don't know you got fucked.
