You don't have to believe in the Bible to believe in God, and you don't have to believe in God to believe in prayer. I'm not a religionist. I am also not an atheist. You try to place people in your own little prejudiced boxes and them subject them to ridicule, based on information you have that is wrong. I don't denounce religion, per se, I denounce the hypocrisy and control that many religions promote.
The term "prayer" is a shorthand way of telling someone else that I care, and I'm thinking about them, and sending good thoughts their way. I do not mean that I am beseeching some angry God to show mercy on them, and give them comfort.
There is much more to the Divine than is contained in the many books claiming to speak for Him/Her.
And that is much more than you, or anyone else needs to know about my beliefs, Assup. And I share it to simply show how narrow minded you are, and to illustrate your complete inability to comprehend complex concepts.

Do you think that's what the others were saying when asking you to pray with them?
I guess be even questioning your confession of faith, I'm proving my ( insert insult here). But you're full of shit and will really never get a pass from me.
Did you tell them that you believed the Bible to be a book of fairy tales?
Did you offer to share your aura with then in a no religious manner?
Face it Whiny. you've eschewed religion and the Bible. You've scoffed ( like I have ) at posters who quote the Bible. That's fine and dandy.
But doesn't your offer to have a prayer meeting in Nicolets thread seem a tad insincere, almost hypocritical to you?
or shall I ask the Dalai Lama?

I think the two of you both make decent points here. Why don't you both shake hands and go forward as friends. Yssup, I would bet COG, who is really a reasonable and intelligent gentleman, would not be your enemy if you would just be less caustic with him. What say you?

I've always had a warped idea when it came to abortion. A child gets raped, ending result is that she is going to be a mother at 12. Or younger. A older woman get raped and the ending result is that she gets pregnant. I wouldn't blame anyone from the "rape" list to have an abortion. Because they weren't ready. They might have the child only to hate and abuse the baby for what the father did. I've seen it, and nothing breaks my heart more than to see children hurt at the hands of an adult, for something they had no control over. They were treated like trash and shown nothing but hate. So yes, I would have rather seen them aborted, than to be so mistreated and hated by their family.
Seeing teens, left and right getting pregnant bothers the hell out of me. So when something like them getting pregnant does indeed happen and they want to pull all their chips out, because they were being careless, kills me. Same thing for some older women.
I've seen an older woman do it twice and I even begged her to stop and think about it before hand. I told her that the emotion (Sad and Being Unsure) she felt at the moment wasn't going to last. But she said she didn't want to be with him and had plans to leave him. So, her mind was set and she even got the guy to pay for it. Didn't bother telling him what the money was going to be used for, just got some money from him and had it done. Then a month later she was back to fucking him and got pregnant again. Him none the wiser. She did it again. I couldn't understand her, she made me sick. If you want an abortion, fine. Don't use the guy who is telling you how excited he'd be if "y'all" got pregnant, how happy he'd be becoming a father, don't use his money to do something like that without telling him.
I honestly thought, that if you had children already, you couldn't stand the thought of an abortion. I was wrong about that idea when it came to that woman talked about above. But, I still hold true to my beliefs. Like an adult, I understand what makes babies, and I'll do what I think is right for me in the end. (I'd keep the baby) Everyone has their reasons. Some are better then others, I can't change anything with a few words. I don't know if I'd buy that bumper sticker, but I wouldn't be ashamed to own it.

I think the country was polarized LONG before they came along.

Assup's not my enemy, JL. He's my entertainment. But I appreciate the thought.
