I once shat myself at burger Tex on airport Blvd in Austin. I was driving down airport and couldn't make it to the bathroom in time. I would have shat in an alley or behind a dumpster but it was daytime and I was wearing my work uniform and was worried about being seen.

They were good for their time, DF. I think the burger has risen to a new level in the culinary firmament since it was merely standard roadhouse fare.
But Franks was an institution. Like the recently closed Frisco Shop in austin. And a nice place to chill between Houston and SA. Their business benefited tremendously when they completed I-10 through schulenberg and they opened the big restaurant.
Sad to see them gone.

What the hell happened to Frisco?????? Fuck that sucks. Right next door, at the poodle dog lounge, you used to have to get toilet paper from the bartender when you had to take a shit. That's not good business. The new bar, the aristocrat sucks. One of the main bartenders, Miguel Serna, is a daouchebag who banned me.

I think the food is OK but the servers are always nice.
I prefer Del Frisco's.

I thought that place was overrated.
Same with Threadgill's.

This is a Frank's right outside Baton Rouge. Is this the same Restaurant you're talking about? I've been there once for breakfast.

CB is predictable when driving on the road and not interested in exploring. Decent for breakfast. Biscuits are good, not great. Blueberry pancakes are pretty good--probably the best option.
Dinners are typical southern cooking: veggies cooked to death, green beans a dull grey, etc.
Fortunately breakfast available all hrs they are open.
