Of course there is. Scientists have already identified a handful of Goldilocks planets with our limited technology so imagine how many there out there in our galaxy alone.
Have they visited us? Maybe. Two thoughts on that. One, if they are benevolent, I don't know that they'd go searching the stars for less advanced civilizations unless by exception. For instance, in one of the Star Track movies, the Vulcans took notice of us when we made a warp jump. They didn't want anything from us so they weren't willing to expend much effort looking for us.
And two, if the advanced society needed something from us like resources or food, they would look harder than by exception. As we know, the collision of two civilizations where one is far more advanced than the other one isn't necessarily a good thing for the less advanced. If we've been visited, maybe we're a ranch. Remember the Twilight Zone episode "How to Serve Man"?

Maybe it's drunken ET's with planks.

Ugh, the Ferrengi weren't, ahem, socialists like Waxman.
they were in fact, extreme capitalist to the tune of robber barons. they were depicted as ugly and noxious.
the Borg would be much closer.

Then again maybe the ET's are just pranksters, teenagers that borrow dad's spaceship, get drunk and go mess with the stupid Earthlings, sort of like cattle tipping or knocking over mailboxes.

dude they are already here.
there have been many UFO sightings/reports going back, as far back as Alexander the Great time.

Fun to think about. It's boring to think that we are the only ones, and the only things that are real are what we can see. You have to have some mystery about life, or you become like so many on this board. Dull.

I don't think time travel is possible, unless traveling forward in time from one star to another count as one.
however, multi-dimensional universe is theoretically possible, probably likely given what I've seen of the evidence so far. it relates to the string/wormhole theory.

You may be right. It just seems odd that they never leave anything behind that woud be absolute proof, like technology we dont have. Why don't we have a video of the inside of one of their ships? That's the sort of thing that would finally prove their existence. Maybe someday they'll just land on the White House lawn and introduce themselves.
Carl Sagan was not convinced. He said that extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof.

Olivia, you better back track pretty quick and say you saw that episode on re-runs in the '80's.
