Very thoughtful post Thatdude........I just happen to love to read!!!

Not sure which book i am but, well worth a read. I guess I am a lil partial to a book that has been on the bestseller list for quite some time, that speaks volumes!! One thing i have learned from experience, a truly good book does not disappoint from the preface to the climax. It is also a wise thing to read a good book more than once, it's amazing what can unfold the second time around.

So the next time a bunch of authors are assembled for book signings just let me know........i am colecting some literary masterpieces!!!

I have found myself most attracted to books in the Fantasy and Adventure genres. I am particularly fond of series written in trilogy or more installments as they tend to have a greater opportunity to develop the depth of the characters involved. When well written, the action builds from one book to the next. The pace quickens to the point that you cannot put the last book down, and you can't wait for the next installment to be published.

I love this thread. Intriguing responses. Also like the additional categories from wheretonow. I find that I'm surrounded by all sorts of books that keep me interested about life.

Here I have created a list for you. Guess which one I am. Which one are you?
The Encyclopedia- insightful, well-read, very rounded.
The Comic Book- fun to be around, is light-hearted about life.
The Romance Novel- full of passion, hopeless romantic.
The Leisure Book- enjoys relaxation and not stressing about life.
The Book of Adventures- always experiencing new adventures.
The Porn Magazine- very sexual and basically only fulfills that need. lol
The Library- a combination of various books....fun, insightful, romantic, sexual and pleasant to be around.

Books like that can ruin it for all of the new and inspiring masterpieces on the shelf along side them. Perfectly stated, Miss Sophia! The wonderful thing about re-reading a book is all the nuances one tends to miss on the first reading. And when reading a new book together, both readers often realize there is a surprise ending neither could have expected or even imagined when browsing titles.

Thankfully, there are some wonderful readers who like to honestly review their latest tomes, and they tend to be much more enlightening than book critics. And book club meetings are the absolute best way to find new and unexpected authors, especially the smaller groups.

Interesting analogy. I'm not a big fan of judging a book by its cover. That's kind of like trying to figure out a movie from the poster hanging on the wall. I really think you have to delve in a bit. I like to take some time to read the inside cover or the first few pages of the book. By then I will know if it has grabbed my attention and is worth the full read.

I do agree that there are some books that we must be more patient with. Sometimes you have to dig deeper to find the true meaning. And occasionally, it has happened that I reread something from earlier in life and I enjoyed it much more the second time around. Likely, I was not ready for it the first time.

I find it hard to select a book when the book sellers use deceptive advertising and the book reviewers are often liars. Lately, I have been trying to spend more time re-reading familiar novels.

Also, I have been having trouble with new editions going out of circulation before I get a chance to revisit them for further study.
