I'd have to give the award to TTH. His feeble attempt to defend his allegation, that only Republicans are racist, was a classic. I could almost smell the flop sweat! Maybe we should give Old-T a lifetime acheivement award.

What should we call the award for stupidest post? I'm thinking maybe Sandie, as in the Sandie goes to...

I'm sorry to see you find a complex question to be stupid.

I see lots of people who hide behind "we need to stop giving special treatment to special interest groups" when what they really mean is "I got mine, so not leave me alone to do my thing".

Almost all of them still want the government to do certain things for them--the big difference between them and the "special interest groups" they complain about is that government is already doing those certain things for them while the special interest groups are generally asking for different things that the government is not currently providing.

I have pointed these out previously, but they still apply:

--Old folks with empty nests are typically the loudest about reducing property taxes for schools, though they never got around to complaining until after their kids graduated.

--Those with homes paid off who think we should eliminate the mortgage deduction on taxes.

--People without young kids who think child care so a single parent can get off welfare is a wastful entitlement.

--People who drive their gas guzelers who want to stop subsidized public transit (and then complain because the traffic got worse).

--Mass transit riders who vote against the bond bill to expand mass transit to areas they don't personally go to.

--People who have a computer and internet access who vote against library bonds.

--The ex-CEO with a golden parachute thinks social security pays out way too much.

--The 3rd generation Italian American who posts a "Irish need not apply" sign in their window. The 2nd generation Irish American who crossed out "Irish" and wrote in "Dominican". The Dominican who is for very stringent immigration laws to cut down on Mexicans.

I could go on and on, but I'm sure you get the point. Most people's ideas of what is a fair government expense and what isn't is directly related to what they have vs what they need.

Sorry if you think those are stupid questions. I think it's a sign of how many Mr Magoos we have on here calling his cousin myopic.

No, you've made a stupid question complex.

Actually, a few will. Though I do know most will not--they will skim at best.

I do enjoy writing them; I look at this whole board as a diversion from serious life

Hmmm, you find "What is the meaning of 'all men are created equal'?" is a stupid question?

It's equal before the law, it has nothing to do with making sure everyone has the exact same opportunities or abilities. It means the law cannot single you out, to take away your unalienable rights, without due process. It doesn't mean everyone gets a computer, or a nice house, or a car. It means the government has no right to interfere with your pursuit of those things, and others, so long as you do not interfere with someone's else's right to do the same.

If I have a computer, it doesn't infringe on anyone else's right to have one. If I break my leg, it doesn't mean everyone else has to break their leg to make it "even".

You are deliberately being obtuse just for the sake of riling things up on here. I just called you on it.

It's a stupid question, and you are trying to make it complex.

Yea, I enjoy writing too. I think most of the people that post on here, enjoy writing. It's just frustrating how often our brilliance often goes unappreciated.

I think this statement is your first mistake. Attributing some motivation to people based upon some process in your own mind is greatly unfair. No one I know thinks in the manner you describe.

As far as the other things you have written, you sure have little regard for Americans and their ability to be fair and know fairness

Yea, I feel like Ben Stein in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" most of the time.

A while back; TTH actually pulled out the "you should leave this country" arguement, that was about a month before he told us if Obama loses, he would be leaving.
