Except nobody's buying what you're selling. The polls aren't reflecting any "stolen valor" fallout. It's almost as if maga just pulled this out of their asses. Because of course they did.
He served honorably for 24 years. He was well within his rights to retire when he did, and he couldn't have possibly known about his unit being deployed to Iraq shortly after he retired. He's a lot of things, but he's not a fucking fortune teller.

Walz abandoned the unit by going around him to leave the National Guard before his team went to Iraq.
Walz and the whole unit – "including my boss, commander, and the command team" – had multiple meetings to discuss deployment months before Walz sought retirement.

Tommy, remember, nobody votes for VP and they don't matter 
Bam, as for the tips policy, anyone can say "I thought about it and my position has evolved" but if they can sweeten it with a bit more it puts the onus back on the one bitching about having their policy stolen
That's politics. Voters get to choose if they believe or not. And hold them accountable if it's a promise broken next time.
It's not gonna really matter which side came up with the policy if it's good, both commit to and the winner implements the policy.
