And it didn't matter if the country where they ultimately decided to live was somewhat more socialistic than the U.S.

But they did "flee" the U.S. to seek a better future for themselves. Whether one equates that to fleeing a capitalistic country for a more socialistic country is open to opinion.
Thank you for the reasoned reply. I can see where you could consider it "fleeing" as well, even though I don't consider it to that level, but more of a calulated approach to their retirement.

The operative words: "in my view" ....

Having visited with some of the Canadians living in Mexico it was almost a consensus that their flight was due to the cost of living, which was mostly due to the substandard health care in Canada based on what they could afford ... ala ... the Canadian version of the ACA that everyone was bragging about when Obaminable was selling his snake oil to the one-payee crowd.

And there weren't getting "socialized medicine" in Mexico .... or any other "socialistic" benefits. So connecting the migration South to any "socialistic politics" is ridiculous.

Interestingly enough the "Nazis Party" was formerly entitled ....

Since the Republic of Mexico had a treaty with Nazis Germany during WWII and the country was a "haven" for fleeing Nazis to avoid prosecution and persecution post WWII it is worthy of evaluating the significance of any "socialist" claims in those countries south of our borders.

This post is full of more nonsense than a gay "lawyer" posting about the pussy he gets on a hooker board.

Not saying there is anything wrong with a cover story that stupid...

Btw...the Nazi's were not socialist. But anyone with have a brain would know that. I'm assuming you have more than half a brain. My condolences if not.

And you're just plain full of shit as to the main reason Canadians migrate to Mexico. I'll give you a hint...number one is WEATHER

Guess what ... vote for one of the Loons if you like that tactic.

when did that happen?

Trump has effectively given away trillions, it just goes down as deficit spending for various items, like the military and tax cuts for the wealthy.
Well, there goes your credibility...tax cuts for the wealthy? I got a tax cut and I'm far from wealthy. My income also went up 17.2% this year based on my W2.

Most people move because of cost of living and not social benefits. That has nothing to do with socialism. I always thought about retiring to PI. You can live pretty good on 600 dollars a month and lots of young, brown girls.

The majority of the cuts went to businesses and the wealthy.

Just because you got a couple pennies back don't mean you recieved a significant tax break.

I don’t give a shit what some left wing socialist “economist” thinks.

Under President Trump, my business is doing better than it ever has. The men who work at my business are making more. Their families are living better.

Of course, this all involves getting up , going to work, and being a productive citizen, something the Progressive/Socialist/Liberal/Democrats find difficult to comprehend.
