1) For when I sell some our stuff on ebay.
2) It's for the business/hobby that I have.
3) To protect you, dear, from people who may track me down after I sell them something.
4) So I can enter online contests without giving up the phone number.
5) Keeps big corporations from using the number to track us down and send us more junk.

You don't even need to do that. Download the app on your phone when you are using it; delete it off your phone when you're not. Unless your wife is going to sift through every app you downloaded, which for most people is a ton of crap to look through, you have zero chance of catching shit.

I'll answer for a lot of guys out there. Generally it's something like...

-Seemed like a good idea at the time.
-Relationship (emotional and physical) was great and intense for a while.
-Real life happened. In my case I had to carry most of the financial, household, and parenting responsibilities.
-After years of emotional and physical neglect a brief NSA thing was a nice break from the everything.

...and in my case eventual separation and divorce that was long overdue. My ex actually suggested I get a part time girlfriend to fulfill my physical needs. I told our counselor I wanted to come home for sex, not go out for it.
