Steve Jobs told Obama that government regualtions is what forces obs overseas.
Teh amount of government regulatons makes it so it does not make business sense to build a factory and hire workers here.

The financial collapse is just one more ingediant int the soup. The question is why did the banks feel pressured to loan to sub[prime borrowers?

The follow up is how can you continue to spend money that you do not have without the value of your money being dropped.
Is there a correlation between the zero interests rates and how fat the printing presses can print dollars?

Did the previous administration warn that something needed to be doe with Freddie Mae and Fannie Mac?
Was that administration blocked by the like of Barney Frank who was on the oversight committee.

Like I have said, I do not believe that the raising of the minimum wage was THE cause but IS an ingredient in the soup of disaster.

Lena, it would shock most people in this Country to learn what is NOT made here anymore.

I am in manufacturing, I own a business, but since we are on a SHMB, I can't say what. We work with a lot of equipment from other manufacturers who have great American names, companies that have been around for ages. You open up one of their shipping containers, and there are those big words, "manufactured in any where but the USA".

Many companies say that their products are manufactured here, but many simply ship all the parts in from other locals and simply assemble it all. The high cost manufacturing jobs are shipped out, low payed workers can be hired to work the assembly line.

This is not going to change. Americans have gotten used to being payed a high wage for a job that requires very little in the way of skills, or even brainpower. The problem is, large Companies, in order to compete in the Global Market, must farm the skilled jobs out.

There are industries that are immune to this to a certain extent. Construction, (bridges, roads, buildings etc), Fabrication Facilities, Shipyards, Oil Field, Off shore Oil Drilling, and any industry that works on the repair end of the equation still have highly paid, and highy skilled craftsmen. But many of these jobs require something that many Americans do not like doing. Getting tired, and getting dirty.

and businesses offering skilled positions require college degrees ... those arent cheap these days. People that paid for and have a degree arent really interested in common labor jobs ... a $100,00.00 business degree from So Cal and pick strawberrys in the valley? Nah.

And where does the ever increasing income disparity fit in your equation?

When people who can't possibly spend all their money as it is are the ones getting 15-20% raises, while the average American is happy to get 2-3%, more and more money is going to go un-spent.

Income inequality is the fault of who?
Is it the fault of the people that do not participate in their children's education.
Is it the fault of the people that refuse to go above and beyond the 40 hour work week to get ahead.
Is it the fault of the people that do not want to work their way through school to get a better education so they can rise above their mediocre existence?
Is it the fault of the people that take what they save and take a risk in creating a company that will grow and hire more people?
Is it the fault of the people that sacrafice in order to save to have some money to invest in the future?
Is it the fault of the people that work 7 days a week 12 hours a day to grow a business?

there is opportunity for everyone in this country to be on the top of the heap. People from all over the world come here for just such an opportunity some legally and many illegally.

Let us take your buddy Warren Buffet who refuses to take a salary because the taxes are too high and then claims he pays a higher tax rate than his secretary. If he paid himself a commensurate salary with the position he holds he would pay a much higher rate than his secretary.
