These are actual differences in the semi-legitimate studies that have been done and make comparing results from one study to another quite problematic.

If it's scientific method you want, there is a universally accepted method that requires nothing more than a ruler, a protractor, and some basic math skills.

Drawing upon the results of 12 relevant studies, the review, detailed in the British Journal of Urology (BJU) International, finds that the average erect penis is about 5.5 to 6.2 inches long and about 4.7 to 5.1 inches in circumference. The findings also deflate a few other myths about male genitalia. The notion that penis size varies according to race, for example, is false.

Alfred Kinsey queried 2,376 whites and 59 blacks to measure their penises and mail him the results; the average self-reported erection, regardless of race, measured about six inches.

Not that other races, haven’t tried to claim the penis prize for their own. One “sexologist” who measured the penises of a sample of men of various nationalities found that the longest white, English penis extended at least two inches beyond the longest African, German, French, Danish, American or Swedish variety. The researcher was, of course, a white Englishman.

While it may be true that there is scant difference between a seven inch penis and an eight inch penis or even between a five inch one and a eight inch one, in some way "normal" size does matter to women. Most important of all though, penis size matters to men. It is one of our sources of great pride. Much of the male ego is in, or is at least supported by, his penis. As long as men think, wish and hope that the size of their penises really counts, then it does. Men have decided, believed and been conditioned into a way of thinking that accepts penis size as of supreme relevance. That is the end of the argument.
