Why do we tolerate substandard candidates from our major parties? Why do we dismiss their lies and corruption? Or stupidity?
I refuse to vote for candidates who lie, or are demonstrably stupid. Regardless of party. It may be a cliche, but it's true. What choice was there between Romney or Obama? McCain or Obama? Kerry or Gore v W? Seriously? Is that the best we can do?
I voted proudly for Gary Johnson last time, for several reasons. First, I believe in most of what he stands for. Secondly, I'm unaware of a history of lying or corruption on his part. Thirdly, I wanted to be counted as a voter who refused the options granted me by the state-controlled media and the elitist establishment.
I get chastised for not choosing a Democrat or Republican, but how do you choose between tyranny or despotism? Arsenic or hemlock? Firing squad or electric chair? Whoever wins, the people lose. There is no real choice between the two major parties, they are essentially the same. I cannot bring myself to vote for a candidate who I know is not going to lead us toward liberty.
Romney? Obama? Who cares? The NDAA will still pass, as will the Patriot Act and other infringements on Liberty. Health care? Both candidates were determined to exert more government control over health care. Spending? Neither candidate was serious about cutting spending, reforming the tax code or reigning in the FED. The differences we see are just charades to deflect from the overwhelming evidence that on very serious and important issues, Democrats and Republicans are EXACTLY THE SAME!
So it's cliché. It's also true.
