There was a lot of the world people didn't understand back then, as Im sure you know. There was a lot about science, sociology, demography, etc. The world in which they lived was NOTHING like the world in which we live today.

While philosophically, they were radical revolutionaries, from a modern society, they're ancients. Their fundamental take on freedom liberty, etc., is great, wise, and admirable. But using those words as the sole basis for the application of their principles in a 21st Century society is bullshit.
