never forget where i was when i heard about Lennon's death. was in Great Lakes Illinois in Navy boot camp and our company commander, MMC Larry Luttrell walked in at 6:30 AM sharp, hit the lights and said "Your new Commander in Chief is Ronald Wilson Reagan and some asshole shot John Lennon to death in New York City"
Saw this old black guy as warm up act for the Alman Brothers
Went to see the Alman Brothers First Annual Eat a Peach tour. This was the early 70's. Anyway, the entry act is typically the roadies jamming (performing) after the doors open for a bit.
After a while, the lights go down and a spot light focuses on an empty three legged stool, center stage. Another spot follows this really old black guy shuffling across the stage who eventually manages to get onto the stool. Took a couple minutes. Then.the music begins.
His name was Muddy Waters. I had never heard of hm before, but am still a live long fan. What a Peach.
