The boos the other day were more at Shelton than Bednar. He’ll be fine. And Jones has a chance to be a really special pitcher.

Agree 100%. Shelty should have yanked him and put Chapman in.

Well, every spring, hope returns, by midseason, its always gone.
Baseball was the one sport my Gram enjoyed watching, we'd fight over Pirate Games and episodes of Star Trek, if games were on at night.
My best friend got to go to the 71 World Series, and he brought me a commemorative tin ring the next day, eventually, that ring wore all the finish off, and eventually rusted away.
Sad, but, the same thing has happened to our Pirates.
Not sure I can keep mustering up any hope for another season, I hope I'm wrong.

Pirates even the series. Sloppy game from Philly. Falter another strong outing and Bednar was much better in the 9th.

... Too right, mate... The good "upside" with our young lads
surely outweighs the bad... Let's give the Pirates a few
more weeks to flesh things out...

Nah - you blow 3 saves in a row, you deserve to get boo'd. Hometown guy or not
Good to see he was able to turn it around tonight - perhaps the boos helped kick him in the ass a bit

... Surely seem that poor manager decisions were the undoing today.
But Sydney wasn't all built in one day... Let's WIN on Sunday!

... Chapman has a bit o' a "meltdown" - and our lads buggered the broom.
However - Tuesday surely brings a new chance to get on track!

Lost their first series of the season. It was coming. But the issue I have in baseball in general is what’s going on with pitchers? 37% of them end up with Tommy John surgery. Why draft or sign power pitchers if you’re only going to let them pitch 5 innings? I’ve been watching MLB since 1964. Bob Gibson to Nolan Ryan pitched complete games. What’s up with the current generation of pitchers?

... Maybe it's a development thing... Trying to make every
bloke a "power pitcher" all fastballs and what-not.
... I've heard a complaint on the new "speed-up-the-game" rules
- that having to "pitch quicker" - with LESS time between throws
- may surely be a concern.

The minor leagues have had pitch clocks before the Majors. So, they should be used to it. I dunno. They pulled Jones out after 5 innings. He gave up one hit which should have been caught. Skenes is up to 3 innings in the minors.

... Hmmmmm... I wasn't aware of the "pitching clocks" in the
lower leagues - but it would make sense that they do have them.
Maybe the 3 or 4 innings and taken out is somehow to mask
the pitcher's own tendencys - that might be more easily revealed
if pitching 6 or 7 innings. ... 'Course everythings on video today.
... Other than that, I can't fathom another possible reason for it.
