Yo, Great play by the Patriots defensive back. He should have been MVP. Was he even drafted? He is from where? Was it Western Alabama college. I salute him a rookie

Poor choice of plays, but if the c'girls were there and Romo threw that pick no one here would be busting Red J's or Linehan's butt ... they would all be blaming Romo.

It's the latter, of course. Not to over-analyze such a suggestion but let's examine that for just a second: Fixing a game (as big as the Super Bowl) would require too much planning....in addition, the involvement and endeavors of too many people (and key members of both a coaching staff and players alike) to make it happen.

We all know about the Black Sox Scandal early last century.....and rumors of prize fighters throwing bouts over the decades....and even the college basketball point shaving incident from years ago. But fixing a Super Bowl would be damned near impossible, right?

Besides.....if it came out a fix actually had occurred.....and the wise guys weren't in on it....there'd be no place on earth you or your family could hide once the word got out.

Amen Pyramider! That is how Dallas Cowgirl fans would have reacted. Fo sho. Romo has taken a ton of heat. Redirecting to play calling. I think Seattle play called for the unexpected that didn't work. They are full of surprises and they sometimes work. Not in this case, which made it sad, for me. Heck, I don't like watching them show the losing team after the game. I prefer to focus on the winner so I don't feel sorry for the mistakes made by the losing team. No matter who that may be. I just notice seattle tend to take risk. Didn't pay off here.
Heck, I'm a wimpy lady watching a testosterone sport world. wth do I know. Sometimes the crazy risk pay offf. Not here.

Zebra, You appear to have some major fricken issues. Creepy post. A bit overboard with you passion.

Funny. But everyone cheered Pete for his call on 4th down right before the half to go for touchdown instead of safely kicking a field goal for a sure 3. He was a genius then.

Usual football armchair nonsense.

really? all of us do? I think you're giving us too much credit ( or blame, depending on your point of view).. btw, the "Black Sox" (White Sox, for those who really don't know) players tried to win towards the end, when they realized the promised payments were not coming.. only Pitcher Eddie Ciccote got paid, and he demanded his cash upfront.

I haven't seen or heard anyone mention this.. during the interception, the Patriots Cornerback comes very close to hitting the receiver just before the pickoff.. I've watched the video several times, I think he did not, but it's very close.. I'm surprised nobody called for a replay, or even mentioned the possibility.. considering ALL scoring plays are reviewed, I think this play should have been.. millions of Vegas dollars hinged on the right call.. of course, even if the Cornerback hit the receiver, both were going for the ball, so interference may not have been called.

Two years ago Butler was frying chicken at Popeyes. Brady is planning on giving him the Chevy Canyon truck that went to the MVP.

Not to "over-stat" everyone........but....

This season, from the 5 yard line in, Dallas ran the ball (DeMarco) 78% of the time. From the 2 yard, it amped up to 87%. The percentages tell us the Cowboys would have run the NFL's leading rusher for 2014 on that play. However.......

This is not to say the Cowboys wouldn't have thrown the ball into the end zone given the same circumstances Seattle was facing.....second down, one time out, clock ticking down, game on the line, etc.....however Dallas would not have run a "rub play"......it wouldn't have been in their game plan (especially from the one yard line). In order to eliminate Romo miscues this season, the majority of pass plays Scott Linnehan called from that marker were targeted to the corners where receivers would be singled up.

If the Cowboys were to throw the ball from the one....it would've been a back-shoulder fade to Dez, singled up one-on-one with a Patriots corner; we easily saw that a couple of dozen times this season (and in most formations, he would've been lined up on the left). Reavis probably have been lined up on Dez.... to take away that play, New England might have assigned double coverage thus opening up another option for Romo who would've audibled in that case.

Emily's right. Romo has taken a lotta heat for past performances.....or lack thereof. But how much of that narrative (per his failures) has been from the national press versus the local fan base? Most Cowboy fans I know and speak with understand Romo is who he is....he isn't Roger....he isn't Troy. He's an undrafted qb from a mid-level college who has over-achieved. And as long as he's the Cowboy qb, we've learned to simply live with his flaws.

I think the earlier reply that mentions Carroll's decision in the National Championship game when he was coaching USC gives some insight into Carroll. He does alot of good things as a coach but he has a history of seriously bad play calling at critical times.
I can't see this as being unpredictable or thinking outside the box. It's just bad play calling.
Not having an understanding of the RISK vs REWARD of a play.

Lol.....really.....c'mon, dude. Through? One "think" you're missing here is Spell Check (ie: it's known commonly in the sports world as "threw" btw.....) Sorry....I despise myself for being compelled to correct someone's grammar / spelling on a hooker board but my heavens....the point you were trying to make had zero validity to it and bam! that was the trigger.

Anyway.....into "traffic"...? Seriously....watch the tape again, buckwheat. The slant pattern the receiver ran could've been stronger (however) the pass from Wilson was fine....bottom line: Butler's play on the ball was sheer perfection. Other than ( Butler) making a beeline to where the ball was being thrown....there was no traffic.
