Install TOR, use an anonymous web browser, go to a public hot spot and go out advertising for "someone" to do a trace/track. Only. May cost you a couple of bitcoins. You'll most likely get Russians or somebody in South America, but they will usually be "ethical" within the bounds of the environment. Just make damn sure they know you are only looking for information, not action.

Well, not quite - as ever, the Texas legal system is vicious if you don't have money to get lawyered up. They even put you in a position where you can't get hold of any funds you might have.

I find it very strange.

If, for example, somebody is in jail, is there a way to find this out? Some database of who is being detained? I assume not, without some leg work.

I knew her real name, we are talking about civilians, not providers.

you will need to get a membership and attest to "why" you are requesting some info, depending on what it is.

this is clearly a case where you broke the golden rule, you got emotionally attached. doesn't matter if she's civilian or provider .. once that happens rational judgement is out the door, along with common sense.

of course it is. if you want to find out if someone is being held, pre-trial you'll have to call the jail they are most likely in. they'll tell you. of course the "where" part might require multiple calls ..

Don't really like being told my story is cow dung because it isn't, but also no wish to extend explanations in public.

Like I say, quick to judge.

I use the phrase 'y'all' as i find it useful, but I would never ever say things like 'I could care less'. My kids complain when I talk about soccer (it is football) and going to the gas station (should be petrol station).

BTW, I don't think anybody uses terms like 'old chap' or 'cheerio' nowadays, you must have been watching too many bad old British films. Hugh Grant et. al. are an embarrassment.
