The article explains very little.........and raises more questions than answers.

The article doesn't doesn't tell us:

How did MJ come by the tape
Who made the recording
Why they made the recording

All important pieces to the puzzle...a puzzle the idiot CJ thinks is "explained" in the linked story, but isn't.

If a bug is in place by a third party that eavesdrops on the conversations of others, it is a crime.

In some states, it is legal to record your own conversations without the consent of other persons in the conversation.

But that is the purpose of the investigation, right? If an aide taped his own conversation, he may be fired, but no crime. But if the Dems bugged the office to record the conversations of others, then there is a crime. Adn that is why the FBI got called.

There may be a whole lot more recorded conversations - not just Ashley's meeting.
Why on earth would the Democrats bug a strategy meeting of McConnell's campaign?

Isn't it exciting? A conspiracy with important pieces to the puzzle.....yes, like the puzzle that is your reasoning process.

Breaking? Film at 11?

Way to miss the point AGAIN.

You do realize there is a difference between public speeches and private discussions, don't you?

Romney's "tape" did fall through any cracks - it was made at a public meeting. The person had a right to record it.

If somebody illegally bugged his office, then it should be investigated, just like any other crime.

And the American taxpayers pay for ALL investigation, not just this one. Should we just get rid of the FBI to save money?

Do you even have a coherent point?

Do you really need an explanation?

Probably for the same reasons a Republican might bug Nancy Pelosi, for example.

Politics is dirty. Or hadn't you heard?

Question for the lawyers - why would this be a federal crime (and thus require the FBI) as opposed to something local enforcement should be handling?

Like if some non-government entity broke into my house and bugged it illegally, I would assume it'd be a matter for HPD, not the FBI?

The federal government, however, has the power to determine what types of crime constitute a federal offense. There must be a specific provision in the Constitution or enabling legislation enacted by Congress that empowers the federal government to regulate a particular area; in general, however, the federal government cannot simply take away a state’s power to regulate activity that occurs within its boundaries.

disclaimer for COF ... the above paragraph is not my words

Why? You seem to think they are opposites. That's a false choice.

The bugging can be BOTH dirty politics AND a crime.

No need to pick just one, Mr. Desperate.

Then why did you post the article? And tell us McConnell was wasting money? And tell us he is in "total damage control" mode? Damage control for what?

But thanks for letting us know you couldn't care less either way.

You'll understand if we don't buy that, of course.

as I clearly stated earlier, the point was to draw a reaction from people who are against wasteful government spending. As much effort as you've made making excuses for Mitch, apparently youre not one of them ... if you read the article it clearly states legal assistants like the one that made the attacks on Judd cant use the funds they were suspected of using ... before any conclusion was made Mitch clearly blamed the Dems to distract any attention from the republicans ... as for the private meeting, surely the republicans are smart enough to see a stranger amongst the ranks, if indeed the meetings are PRIVATE.
Other than watch Mitch call in the big dogs just to uncover the wrong doing from his staffers and wind up stepping on his own dick in the process, I really don't care. Just another day in the life of political stupidity, and wasting taxpayer $$..
