I heard the same thing , when I was on my last cruise last year
After talking to a few PPL who just hop from one cruise to another.
You have everything you need , only thing is not a lot of room unless you have a big cabin , I had a suite and it was not a big as I was wanting.
Where I'm going to put all my stuff..

Gina needs to just down size lol

Been in happening many coastal and expensive cities such as Hongkong, Tokyo, Toronto. People living in boats and commune to downtown is 10 mins or so.

Before the pandemic I was seriously scouting places like you guys in Cartagena, Pattaya, Turks-Caicos, even visited Mykonos.

The problem is if you are a guy, you will meet a young hot good looking local girl and before you know it your making babies. Now your a 60-70 yo guy going to Kindergarten events and your the oldest guy in the room.

I know several guys who are living overseas with a new young family and they are in their 60's. They seem happy but, yikes this looks messy and a financial boat anchor.

I'm more realistic, bought a nice summer place in White Fish Montana and if I get the urge to go to Spain i'll find a STR for a couple of weeks.

It's a nice fantasy but believe me you do not want to be a 70yo guy attending Teachers night at an Elementary school in Bogota.

I'm leaning heavily towards either Colombia (Barranquilla or Cartagena to be specific) or perhaps Portugal or Greece. Favorable weather. Reasonable cost of living. Favorable programs for retirement Visa. Colombia has a higher ranked medical system than the US.

Biggest draw to Colombia over Greece or Portugal is the cost to come back to the states to visit would be far cheaper from Colombia. I can catch a flight from Cartagena to DFW, round trip, for under 500. Flights from Lisbon or Mykonos are more than triple the cost.

Check out the Blue Marlin Bar in the Hotel del Rey if it's still there.

Check out Medellin, Colombia. I go there all the time, It is known as the city of eternal spring. Normal temps 75 day and low 60's at night year round.

regarding that cruise ship link above,
one set of options - you buy a room but also have to pay a month fee.
another set - UNLIMITED TRAVEL | NO MONTHLY FEES

i read about another company that has a one-price & no monthly fees. cabins started around $450K - you own it til you die. just give them about 30days notice before hopping on board at any of the ports they visit.

not sure i want to be at sea for more than 1month at a time.
i'd rather have a place that you can get to and get from fairly easily.

costa rica is nice - as long as you like the tropical weather and 8am-8pm sunlight just about all year round.
southern spain as a base would be great.
if it werent so damn far away, new zealand.

Grace, Follow @cheapdfw on twitter, if you are patient, you can snag some affordable tickets back-and-forth from most of the major European cities to Dallas. It just won’t be peak season.

That's actually fine by me-- going to Europe during non peak suits my plans just fine. Though-- I'm learning with some of the changes in the EU and the Schengen Visa-- that its not as simple as it used to be to "backpack across Europe" so to speak... looks like I'll have to be 90 days in and 90 days out of the zone.

Yes, unless you get a residence visa in some country, it’s pretty much 90 days in/90 days out. Sadly.

Eh-- looks like I can jump in the zone for 90-- then spend 90 in the UK... then 90 in the zone... then 90 in Georgia (the country, lol)....

Dunno--- we'll see where life leads.
