If the original poster asks for removal it should be..Or at least closed. This is a public forum and we all post freely. For some reason if the OP feels he made an error in his post or has changed his mind it is his Post.
It isn't owned by the rest of us.We are just responding to his post.
Why is it so important to you that the threads not be removed?
The Op should give good reason to the mods, admins for the removal and if it adequate then it should be done.

hmmm, so important?...I wouldn't say that I am on a crusade here or anything, but yeah I would like to see a change. If T-bone were to tell me to STFup, there will be no change, I would simply request this thread be deleted, and move on to the ads.

However, my motivation is largely because we are an information based community, and if an OP is allowed to delete info supplied by other posters it may hamper informed decision making, and partly because I am tired of the OP's ability to erase another poster's opinion especially if they contradict with the opinion of the OP.

Are you sure about that? There are multiple threads in several regional forums by you trying to get folks to come to this forum and "petition the change."

No offense, but that comes across as a crusade.

LOL, yeah I guess it looks that way. No offense taken at all. I copy/pasted the same message in the coed forums of my playground San Antonio and the playgrounds I sometime visit of Austin, Houston, and Dallas. All of them directed/requested them to make comments here. I just wanted more input then would be provided from just an SA post, and I was hoping to keep it centralized. I could have just posted here, but I know that there are many that do not peruse this section, and mainly just stick to their areas.

One thing to note: I did not request that others come petition a change. I said I was petitioning a change, and that I would appreciate their input be it pro or con.

Multiple threads, several regional forums? Oh, dear Lord, I am appalled!

In my opinion, a good reason is that both hobbyists and providers can read those threads and use them to make judgments about seeing someone. If you allow someone to delete threads that cast him or her in a bad light (in retrospect after getting feedback), and keep only the posts in which he/she gets positive feedback, you would lose the ability to get an accurate picture of a hobbyist or provider. Everyone gets a finite time to edit a post, so if someone really does realize a particular post was not a good idea, there is time to do something about it.

swwaustin posted in a thread outside of Austin?????

Oh the drama of it all..........swwaustin, you are Texas family. You come post in Houston any time you like.

TBone cleared the matter up..........threads don't get removed at the request of a thread starter.

So, it turns out swwaustin was correct in his assessment of how a thread should be handled.

ferdburf........it gets easier after the first time.

I agree with npita........if someone wants to see if I like "drama", they can come to Houston Co-ed and reach their own conclussions.......about whether I like "drama"..........in Houston Co-ed..........."drama".......... ..or, they can check out my sig..........I'm just saying.

I would favor the mods not removing the thread at the request of the OP unless there's a pretty good reason.

Sometimes "I screwed up and made a mistake starting the thread" is a good enough reason. I wouldn't give the member too many chances to use this excuse.

Also:

1) A user's "bad" thread can serve as a self-posted alert. It can warn others that "this person is someone not to get involved with."

2) Some people will be more deliberate assholes if they know they can delete the bad thread later.

3) The other people who took the time to write thoughtful posts in the thread might object to their work being deleted. Especially if the OP started an argument and lost the argument.

4) If you know your thread won't be deleted easily, maybe you'll be less likely to post mad, drunk, or stupid in the first place. Well, some people will be less likely.

I think the OP should be able to REQUEST it be removed. He or she should give a reason to the mods why it should be removed, if the mods find it worthy then go ahead but if its a BS reason i.e. (I got owned on my own thread, or made a fool of myself with this stupid post) then no.
