I saw it this past weekend, and I'm still on the fence about it. I love the books, and was excited to hear that a movie adaptation was finally on the way, but wasn't too sure about 8 books getting compressed into one movie. I liked the action sequences and the casting choices for Walter and Roland. Wasn't too thrilled that Jake was the central focus of the movie, however.
Yeah, that seems to be a common criticism about Jake.
It seems a questionable decision to pack all that into one movie. Would likely have been better just as an adaptation of the first book to set up a franchise.

Apparently there's also supposed to be a TV series to expand the world introduced in the movie, with the possibility of more movies to come, so we can see elements of the books on screen. Aaron Paul has expressed interest in going for the role of Eddie, which would be pretty awesome. Also, from what I've read, the whole thing is supposed to serve as a 'sequel' to the books, so the producers will have a little more creative freedom.
Watched The Greatest Showman at the new Starlight Theater in Bentonville. Nice theater. The movie didn't really grab me all that much but it was definitely well done. I noticed that the sound in the theater was superb.
