Dude I'm not talking about the Tet attack on the American emabassy in 1968. That was the new embassy and it was like a fortress and the VC had to bust through the fence with explosives.

But years earlier, I think in 1964 before the new one was built, the VC bombed the old US embassy and killed and injured many people. Around that time the VC also bombed the Brinks hotel in Saigon, and other places where US officers worked and lived.

A whole lot went on in Vietnam from 1964 to 1967, before it becames so controversal.

Anyway what I've stated is that the attack in Bengazi would just have been different, like a truck bomb or something, which the Marines would not be able to defend against. Anyway US Marines are not that good in that mission and should prolly stay home.

We should move all our military assets home and then no one would have a gripe with us and that's the best way to prevent such events.

Regardless of what you meant, the 1968 attack very well illustrates how the Marines can protect an ambassador. And no ambassadors were killed or taken hostage in the Beirut attack. Furthermore, the record of U.S. Marines at Belleau Wood attests to Marine fortitude and tenacity against your Germans.
