On the upside, with the defund the police movements, we will see a lot of these expensively under educated socialistsas turn into to Baristas, meter maids and social replacements for police - along with a resultant body count to show for it. Imagine a situation where a person with a gender studies degree is going to write a ticket for a broken tail light to an armed career felon that had just robbed a liquor store and shot the cashier.

Default Grift-a-thon R Us

I see it as more of a grift-a-thon. There are a lot of studies and data that show the easy money college pipeline (price) rises faster than most other commodities. Plus there is no ROI accountability. Imagine, you can peddle crap degrees, backed by an endless supply of government guarantees.

Someone wrote up a great idea a while back- put the colleges on the hook for the loans. If the graduate cannot make enough to pay off the debt quickly (say 4 years), then the college eats the difference. Sure would change the worth and usefulness of a degree pretty quickly.

I have personally sat with prospective students and helped them do an ROI analysis for a graduate degree. One metric we used was looking for an advanced degree that would generate a first year income greater than or equal to the total debt incurred. Not that they would pay it off in year one. But at least we considered the "value" of the degree in the equation.

Worse than facebook..everyone hates it but thinks they have to be on it

Maybe some woke thinking needs to be applied to college tuition

oh...so you're the problem.

You’re mixing Trumpies with all GOP. Fact is many GOP are very educated and do very well.
I’d argue that democrats in general are the anti education. Instead of pandering to uneducated minorities with more free money, perhaps your party should hold them to a higher education standard. Take advantage of the fact that African Americans, if they apply themselves even a little are given much better college opportunities then whites that we pay for. Instead they overwhelmingly don’t, treat their teachers like zoo keepers and bitch about “systemic racism” and continue the cycle.

... I surely agree with W. here... This "forgiveness" idea
is silly - the doctors, lawyers and teachers still with
existing debt will be the first ones covered.

And WHAT of those who surely payed-off their debt,
maybe as soon as last year? ... They will surely
scream for relief... As will any joey at university NOW
- and all those of tomorrow.

university education was affordable in the 60's and 70's. Most of them were also balanced in terms of staffing and administration.

by 1980, it was somewhat affordable, they were some that were once affordable but no longer.

what happened?.

I think that might have something to do with the Professor's tenure and salary. its much higher than it was in the past.

there were also staffing changes in the tenured professor ranks and administration which over time became more liberal.
