Thanks for clarification Randy. I essentially ignored that piece of legislation, since probably unconstitutional, doesn't really affect me and likely a nothing burger.

I love it here, but not at all unusual in a state where the governor doesn't have a college degree (one of 2 such states) and panders to the Bible Belt. We were also blessed with Randall Williams who oversaw health policy and covid response to the degree that we are one of the lowest vaccinated rates in the country. Almost forgot Greitens and his little affair with his hairdresser and Hawley who was disavowed by Danforth recently.

We love to poke fun at Arkansas hillbillies, but the joke is probably on us.

It’s pretty simple, about 2 weeks ago Missouri passed and was signed by the governor the “2nd Amendment Preservation Act”. It simply states that if the Federal Govt. passes any laws which violate Missouri citizens 2nd Amendment rights, local law enforcement cannot assist federal law enforcement in enforcing those laws.


And there is the catch. The federal government can not force the state to co-operate with them but they can tell them what the federal law says on the matter. This is what sanctuary cities do with immigration. While they can't "make" their own laws, they do not ( so far ) have to co-operate with federal authorities and often don't honor request for holds on illegal immigrants.



Almost immediately Garland (who is supposed to be non-partisan) sent a letter to Missouri Governor stating Federal law was supreme and over rides state law.


REALLY? Has he sent letters to “sanctuary cities” who do not support ICE efforts?


Nope, he doesn't care about that issue. Which is why so many people do not respect the federal government when they pick and choose laws they will and will not enforce.



Or better yet, states that have passed laws legalizing marijuana. The use, sale, and possession of cannabis in the United States, despite laws in many states permitting it under various circumstances, is illegal under federal law.

Yes Federal law "when authorized and enumerated in the Constitution" supersedes State law but they are not all so clear cut that it doesn't take a SC decision to decide. On the question of M, the federal government, any time it feels like it can sweep into any state ( this is my understanding, always possible I could be wrong but don't think so ) and shut down any M operation. It has chosen for what ever reason not to. We ran into this in the Obama administration telling states that they could not make up their own immigration laws. Commerce laws generally are the purview of the federal government as I understand it



This is all about flexing power when they want to. I wouldn't be surprised to be hearing from Biden on what Texas is doing with regard to the border very soon. "We decide not you" will be the call.
