What a total waste of a post. That guy has no idea why Romney lost.

That might seem obvious, but not for the obvious reasons. Romney lost because the conservative virtues - the traditional American virtues – of liberty, hard work, free enterprise, private initiative and aspirations to moral greatness - no longer inspire or animate a majority of the electorate.

Actually it does, it's just that the Republican party has done a piss poor job of reaching out to non-white males. Simple as that.

Obama won a large majority of the Asian vote and yet the Asian population embodies hard work, free enterprise and private initiative. Every ask yourself why the Republicans don't appeal to Asians and other minority groups that would seem to be perfect for them.

But I have spent time searching mp for MY ancestral home in Eastern Europe. Wiped out by the Romanoffs and eradicated by Nazis. Not even a ghost town. Went looking for a lot of them, as a matter of fact.

I have family in Israel. But my anscestors were not from there.

Latinos too. The Latino community typically espouses many of the same values the Republican party claims to have (focus on the family, heavily religious), but amazingly, the Republicans have managed to insult and turn away a large and growing demographic that should've been easy for them to capture.

I suppose I get it, sort of. I had real concerns about the direction the country was taking when Bush II was elected.....especially the 2nd time. In some way, Democrats are also responsible for the current state of polarized politics. Bush's second term was a particularly divisive one and as we should've learned from history, conservatives are just better are the "hate" game than we are.

I believe you when you say that, TP. I think the biggest issue is we disagree on what makes us great and how we got to that place. The problem is, if many of us on this board thought POTUS thought the same way, we'd have a lot less to talk about. Fundamental change and all that...

Agreed on the first part, but that last statement is laughable. All one has to do is look at the tactics of O'Blunder in the last election and the general state of dialogue in the country to see that. If you can't admit that the atmosphere has gotten significantly worse since he arrived on the scene, you're delusional. And, before you say it...no, it isn't about race.

There is plenty of blame to go around for everybody but, let's face it, the GOP and the conservatives are the ones who have elevated the game. Challenging Obama's right to be President based on bogus birth certificate arguments? Yelling at him during the state of the union address? The list is endless. The conervatives don't just disagree with Obama, they fundamentally challenge his right to serve. And, if you don't think that race plays a role, at least with some folks, you are the one who is kidding yourself.

Of course it has since Obama's been president. This effect has been happening for years. Republicans tried to impeach Clinton. Democrats came back and raised the level of disrespect with Bush. Even now your very post mocking the last name of our elected president (something that would have been shocking say 20 years ago) shows how far down we have come.

If you say race doesn't have something to do with it, I don't believe you. Just as there are people who voted for Obama and blindly support him because of his race, there are plenty of people who voted against him and hate him because of his race.
