My most out standing hook up took place in a police car. I work closely with the police and while riding in a cop car I made a date with a provider. The cop and I were laughing as I set the date his only question was it's not in my city is it. The cop and I worked together a month later and he asked how the date worked out.

I set a date up with a cop once, he just didn't know he was a date.Shopping, dinner, dancing, company. You pay for it one way or another.

I do use separate phones, I would not be that stupid as to use the same phone. Also I would not be stupid enough to text stupid things while around these people, that's why my phone is on silent and I text them when I get a few minutes "alone".

Sabra, I apologize, I misread your posting and upon realizing the miscommunication (which was completely my fault - again, mea culpa) I subsequently deleted my posting, which you have quoted above and which subsequently appears in your reply. I do apologize for any misunderstanding between us or confusion which I may have inadvertently caused. As an aside, though, I truly didn't realize / was not aware, however, that you are involved with law enforcement in Nebraska in another capacity, through your affiliation with a non-profit Agency.

Again, my apologies.

Have a great day!

Kisses,

- Jackie

Its ok, I tend to do the same thing. I get in a lot of trouble for opening my mouth instead of using my brain. I think its part of being Irish. lol

Very well, Sabra, thanks so much for understanding!

I am curious though, and I know it is slightly off topic, but how much work do you transact with law enforcement in Nebraska? Is this something you would care to share more about?? As you said you work with a non-profit, maybe this is something where others can help out?

I'm very interested!

As I have been away from ECCIE for the past several months, perhaps this is something you have spoken about before in a different thread and I may have not seen it - is there another thread where I might find out more information?

Kisses,

- Jackie

I don't see the LE very often only if they are called. I see probation and parole officers a lot. Judges only when I go to court for my clients or with them. Not hobbyist clients. I have a construction biz so court can be often.

Oh, I see . . . but you mentioned a non-profit (other than your construction business), aren't you afraid that your affiliation with this "hobby" might endanger your position with the non-profit, or jeopardize the reputation of the non-profit all together, if it (the connection between the two) were to be found out? Also, does your affiliation with law enforcement in this manner you describe, does it impact your business here, within this endeavor? I mean, you mentioned it initially as though you felt the community should know . . . I formed the impression that you mentioned that you were around LE (working with them from time to time with or for the non-profit) only because you would be around them enough that it could / would impact your communication (as you described). If it isn't that often (your contact with LE), I'm curious, then why mention it at all? I'm sure that many might get (or form) the wrong impression . . . LE is a fairly touchy subject for many people here, and one's affiliation with them, in any capacity, may be a hindrance insofar as this business is concerned.

Kisses,

- Jackie

I make sure as to not show any face pics to try and protect myself from being known. Yes my doing this could jeopardize my other life, that is why I do a lot of screening.
I mentioned what I mentioned because I opened my mouth before using my brain. lol
I am not around them because I choose to be, I would rather never see any of them.
Shit happens and I have to be.
If they did find out about this I would have to pay the consequences, and relinquish the non profit over to the board of directors. My construction biz, well if they found out I would probably have a lot more clients..lol

P.S
I never work with LE, I'm usually arguing with them to go find someone else to harass.

Ah, I see . . . well, one thing is for sure, we ALL must accept for ourselves the risks we are willing to take by participating within this endeavor. Thanks for sharing, and again, my apologies for any misunderstanding.

Have a great day! I think Marcus would be happy if we returned the thread to the original topic . . . that said, thanks again!

Kisses,

- Jackie

EDIT: You revised your posting after mine to include the statement that you never work with LE . . . I'm certain many here would be delighted to know that! I must say though, it does seem like you are risking a lot, and you have a lot of irons in many different fires at once . . . but, as I mentioned, this is really totally off topic . . . I've concluded my participation in this thread in the hope to return it back to the OP/OT.

Thanks again!

- Jackie

jj,

"...We gave up on the phone part and resorted to texting to arrange our meeting and directions to the place. For some reason our texts would go through but not phone calls..."

I don't know for certain, but I get the feeling that on some (prepaid?) phone services when the money runs out they can no longer make phone calls, but I suspect, they can still send and receive text messages.

If someone knows differently, please share. I've wondered for a few years because I've run into this constant texting thing a lot with budget providers.

I too dislike texting whole conversations because of the time it takes me to text. A 15 second conversation seems to take 15 minutes. Although I have learned neither, I have a feeling that I would also dislike using telegraphy and semaphore systems. And I often wonder if I am indeed speaking with who I think I'm speaking with.

However, I will admit that I have found texting to be a good way to send a quick private note, like "Call me, don't text."

By the way, ladies, I enjoyed the tête à tête. It is a pleasure to hear/read well reasoned and precise as well as accurate communication.

The language skills employed lead me to believe you are both well educated (be it post-baccalaureate, graduate or professional). The level of control of language and emotion (with a very light dusting of snarkiness) was impressive. I have met few if any professionals, including attorneys and educators, who would or could equal the display.

Thank you both.

Osolomio,

On the majority (more than half) of the pre-paid phone services available, once you have run out of voice minutes loaded on the card, your phone service resets completely. During the time you are out of minutes, you will not be able to send or receive text messages and there is no chance for any pending messages to be sent or received once the phone is reloaded with more minutes. Essentially, reloading the phone resets the entire plan each time.

On some carrier's pre-paid plans, notably Virgin Mobile plans, and now also on Straight Talk, they allow service to the phone via text if the talk minutes expire and vice versa, but, they do not provide any service past the end date. And, more and more service providers are going to this model (thankfully).

Generally however, to be safe and ensure service, one must reload the phone prior to one of three thresholds being reached in order to continue service: 1) Prior to talk minutes being eclipsed 2) Prior to the combined number of incoming and outgoing text messages being eclipsed or 3) Prior to the expiration date (if any) of the plan that was loaded to the phone. Most pre-paid phone plans offer no carry-over.

Kisses,

- Jackie

Osolomio, I have heard that very thing from a provider several times in the past
"My phone was shut off because I need to pay the bill, I can still text though!"
I am unsure as to what phone provider was involved (prepaid or regular service provider) .
