I wonder if this had any effect on Nolan leaving? Maybe Price has matured. When he was with the Brewers he was a pain to everyone. He would not chat with most runners from other teams. He was a Bore

I doubt it, but no one will ever know the real reason, but my theory is ever since JD go promoted to president of baseball operations, you can tell they were trying to phase Nolan out, and we will never know why that was either. Fielder does not seem like a personable fellow, but as long as he has great power numbers, clutch hitting and plays a great defensive 1st base, I do not care if he ever says a word the entire time he is here!

Can't believe Murphy got $10 million for a 2-year deal.....I liked Murphy, but he was a zero in the contribution department.

Do you think Profar has Elvis' range at short? I'd hate to send him (Andrus) to someone else....he's a great guy who obviously loves the game and....that glove. Damn, he'd be tough to replace IMO.

Are you forgetting Beltre?

Elvis is not going to be traded. They just locked him up at less than market value for a few years. Such a short memory, Murphy had a pretty good 2012 offensively and he was always consistent in the defense.

If they wanted to move Profar to short, he would be at short and they would not have given the money that they gave Elvis which locked him in a Ranger's uniform for years. Profar is a good middle infielder, but I do not believe he is better than Andrus at short, considering he has been with the team for a couple of years now and has had many opportunities to outshine Elvis at short and it did not happen. The Rangers have a legit ace in Yu Darvish who is also locked up for years and then Perez will make a fine #2 till he has a couple more years then he will competing with Darvish for the #1 role. Holland is either spot on or way off, making him a #3 at best and Harrison coming back who won 20 games 2 seasons ago is going to be in the rotation so essentially they are looking for a #4 or #5 starter which they could land with trading Mitch Moreland. David Murphy is an average OF with average defensive skills and while his hitting struggled majorly last year, he has some pop in his bat, but not 5 million a year worth, but the Rangers were paying him way more than that so he actually to a pay cut and I bet JD told him he would give him 2 million a year and that is why he is in Cleveland!

That LF position may be claimed and awarded to Jim Adduci and he will get a long look in Spring Training if they do not bring in someone else. I am just worried about who is going to catch as Soto is a backup and streak starter.

I like the trade. Especially since the Tigers are sending $30 million along with Fielder. Both Prince and Ian are a bit on the down side of their career, but we need power more than we need a fifth wheel second baseman. Profar can slide in cheaply at 2B.
As for trading Elvis, he's a very tradeable asset, but I see no reason to trade him unless you really want to go all in and pursue Cano. I think the market for Cano is going to come way down, but I still don't think he's the best use of the Rangers' money. I'd rather sign McCann at 1/3 the money than Cano and then use the other 2/3 to pick up a pitcher and resign Cruz.

Cruz isn't coming back unless he is willing to go 2 for 20 or something like that.
Any a likely #5 starter is Colby Lewis, if he makes it back from injury.

Kinsler was and is a solid 2nd baseman so I do not know what you mean by 5th wheel. He had great range, made several plays that an average 2B would not have even though he had his share of fielding errors, but I think he is better defensively than Robinson Cano. Profar is an upgrade at 2B, he is cheaper (for now) and he is 10 years younger. Cano is a legit power hitter no doubt, but with the acquisition of Fielder along with Beltre I think the power numbers will be there and good enough without paying 20+ million a year long term for Cano. I am really interested in seeing who the everyday catcher and DH (another possible power bat) is going to be, the platoon at DH was not really effective last year.

Kinsler got lazy. Was and Had are past tense. Cano is a star but a prima donna. The next time Cano hustles it will be his first time. I look at Fielder as the DH. He is barely average in the field.

After he received that 100 million dollar contract he became lazy as will Cano once he gets his since baseball contracts are guaranteed to be paid once signed, which is why I would not do more than 2-3 years for a player if I was a GM. Fielder being the DH would actually be a good fit and keep Moreland at first and batting 9th. I do not see paying 19+ million a year for the next 7 years for a part time player though.

If Moreland could stay healthy and Washington would quit trying to platoon him ...

Yep....and how many games did he miss over the past several years ?
I won't miss him either....good trade of an injury prone player.
