... Given the frequency of these types of Posts, but Wildcat, you sound very sincere and eloquent, so I will express my sincere compassion for your friend's unfortunate tragedy, and thank God she has friends like you. I know even with insurance, we all need help putting things back together. The Red Cross is a good suggestion, as well as the local United Way Office and local Churches. I give substantially to United Way for how it helps good people in unfortunate circumstances.

Not going to debate your assumptions & feelings about the situation, but it's only been a week since this was posted. Most insurance companies don't act that fast.

Most people have a savings account or card they can use.
Then they can put it back or pay it back when the check comes.

Either way, being a woman of 47 years old I am thinking she never planned ahead for anything.

I do have rental insurance ASSHOLE why don't
you get a life and quit being a DICK!! I wasn't
