There is certainly a time and place for non violent civil disobedience. However, advocating violent lawbreaking (as in the example given in the beginning of the quote) is something I have a difficult time getting behind simply because of how easy it then becomes to use violent lawbreaking as a justification for anything you want.

It's also interesting to note that while the civil rights movement and desegregation was started by individual activists, it was the power of the federal government that was ultimately needed to force desegregation upon the states that refused to abide by the laws.

I should explain. I do not teach my children to break the law. I teach them to stand up for what is right. Unfortunately, in today's United States, that will result in breaking the law. Unjust laws ought not be obeyed.
