If we were to boil ECCIE's political forum down to four threads, we'd have:

"KILL THE MUSLIM KENYAN, " which would of comprise the huge majority of the threads in here, closely followed by

"I KNOW YOU ARE BUT WHAT AM I" featuring IBIdiot's hundred post thread-hijacking meltdowns,

"I'M NOT A RACIST, BUT..." We know who'd be the main contributor to thst one, and finally,

"THE POLITICAL FORUM," which would consist of a handful of threads that weren't "Red Rovering" and contained threats, bets or regrets.

I'm not sure where "the Last Train to Clarksville" would fit in there.

So wearing the pin was fluff politics.....you may be right but it was the Obama response that tells the tale. He did not understand why people would be offended and it had to be explained to him! Same thing with the Pledge of Alligence or his response to the nationa anthem which is more a matter of written protocol, those too had to be explained to him! It's little things like that that will betray who or what you are. Unfortunately, the only thing the democratic party could think about was how they would make history by electing this non-entity to the highest office in the land. The other bad thing was that their second choice was just as bad. The better choices for president were in the "also ran" category.

It was predictable that he can't bring himself to acknowledge that we are at war with some faction of Islam. He grew up in Indonesia with a large but relatively peaceful Muslim population. Obama is in denial based on his childhood experiences.

Obama didn't really grow up "as an American." He doesn't believe in American Exceptionalism. He would prefer the US to have more of a European Socialist style govt and economic system. That he was elected twice to open the public trough despite many crucial mistakes shows a sad turning point for US history.
