I'm confused, a couple of months ago there was talk about a speech made by Brownback concerning human trafficking. I called the Brownback office and asked if the intent was to target prostitution or human trafficking. I was told prostitution was a local matter only. Not that I'm surprised but it seemed that they lied. I also went to this site and suggested that some of us stand up and fight this thing. At that time I saw a lot of running and making of excuses. So when do people stand up and change the laws that you all find so onerous?

I feel you, but it's clear that standing up counts for nothing. Many people opposed the bailouts, yet they happened anyway. I wish the system could correct itself, but many people want to be oppressed. Hell, they crave it. My votes or letters to representatives count for nothing, as they are easily nullified by the votes and letters of others. The real question is: at what point will the tree of liberty need to be refreshed? At what point will those who had sworn an oath to the Constitution need to honor that oath, against all enemies foreign and domestic? I'm not just speaking of the hobby. That's far down on the list of priorities in which I would cite in a redress of grievances. The bottom line is that we are filth, and our leaders have nigh limitless power, except for the fact that they fear to go too far too quickly. The only thing that has prevented even a quicker transition to tyranny is the number of firearms in the hands of the people. If we were unarmed, things would be much worse I suspect.

Im afraid that most of us who feel this way about our Goverment right now, have to wait to become the majority. At some point, enough people will become fed up and a change will take place in the election booths. Maybe this November, maybe somewhere down the line. This is no longer about a party. It is about a goverment that is totally out of control with its spending, policy making and policing of its citizians.
I am afraid though that before any significant change can come about, our path towards socialism must be derailed. As long as the Goverment continues to give just enough to those that are happy with just getting by, nothing will change. We have bcome a nation of people that are satisfied with just "getting by". The idea of wanting more or being the best at something is looked down upon. It has been in the making for the last 70 years or so and continues to happen. What was it that Reagan said? The most feared words are "Im from the Goverment and Im hear to help"

Guys,
I think what we need to remember is this. JoCo is very aggressive in this field because it's easy targets. But more importantly, EVERY time they pop someone, they make sure it's on the news. Why? Because they're saying to ALL potential criminal activity "Not in my backyard". It's what their constituents want from them. I live in Jo Co. And I watch them every Friday and Saturday night pulling people over as they come in from WyCo speeding or having their music too loud. It's a simple, easy way to send a message. Because it sends a message to ALL would-be criminal activities that "hey, if this is how they handle prostitution, how are they going to react to drugs, etc".
In KC, they probably pop more people in any given month than JoCo. But over there it's just another bust. After all the other higher-profile crime that gets attention, it's just "ho-hum".
However, some of you on here came on and said, "gee, I noticed this ad that was different than the others, made me wonder". Now, I noticed those too. And I think anyone who took the time would at least see the difference. But DON'T MENTION IT! You're just educating LE. If you think for a moment that LE isn't on this board and that they're not paying attention then you're crazy. Don't educate them for free or the next time it'll be harder to tell and more guys get popped. Capiche?

Okay it's a given the LE is watching us. It is a public forum. So what do we do go to double secret probation?
We have two choices; we go covert and find candidates who stand with us but don't bring up the topic or we go public and let the people discuss our position with our candidate. Of course we could do both in both parties and if we get by the primaries then we can't lose. So what do we want? Non enforcement? Legalization? De-criminalization? We have to understand what we want and then how to get it.

Sens55: The only problem with the idea that Johnson County is performing the will of its constituents, is that it assumes that it's okay to infringe upon the rights of others, so long as such is popular. This is exactly why the Founding Fathers had feared direct democracy. This is a double-edged sword, and both parties wish to limit the rights of others. I have an idea of how I'd like people to live, but I also realize that it's not my place to force the issue.
As far as the cops, they should be educated on liberty, as well as most of our citizenry (p.s. Hi police!!!). In any case, of course they view this site, and all of the cute code-words mean nothing. At the very least, and to their credit, it's not like there's an outright crusade against prostitution. I think they just try to sweep it under the rug to look good. I can sympathize with not wanting streetwalkers running around, but that represents another element of prostitution. It should still be legal, along with any other victimless crime.
john galt: Calling for prostitution to be legal openly is not an admission of guilt. It's merely a matter of liberty. The ultimate goal would to make it completely legal, aside from prostitution in which children or enslavement is used. There are already laws against abusing children and slavery though, so no change would be necessary there. While outright legalization would be great, I think the first step is de-criminalization. I would say the same thing about drugs and the failed War on Drugs. If some idiot wants to rot their brain with cocaine, I really don't care.

Gait,
I'm not saying we shouldn't have these alerts. I'm only pointing out that people were very specific about certain things in the ads that made them weary. The specific information makes it easy for LE to see where they were a little off this time and tweak it so next time they get 50 instead of 37. I ABSOLUTELY believe we should have these alerts. I just think we need to be more discrete in pointing out specifics.
Philhelm,
I"m not debating theory, I'm a pragmatist. Didn't say it was right. Didn't say it was something I agreed with. Just said it is what it is. Politicians, including Police Commissioners/Sherrif's etc are political positions (even if not directly voted on by the populace) and any form of popular government is susceptible to pandering to the masses. It's nothing new. After all, the Nero filled the Coliseum with gladiator battles to cater popular favor to distract the populace from the disaster that was his fiscal policy. We can debate it. We can vote out all of our politicians and replace it with others. Hell, we can even revolt and replace our current form of government. But don't think for a moment that you'll change that.

I always wonder if I failed to express myself properly or if my audience fails to grasp what I'm saying for other reasons.
I never said that alerts are unnecessary or that they should be stopped. I understand fully that LE is watching AND taking notes. What I tried to say is that we can become politically active and try to stop this infringement on our liberties. Do not say that it is all about the religious right, it is not. Yes, there are religious people on both sides of politics and they can become oppressive if allowed. They are not who we want to side with us. We want the middle majority, the libertarians, the people that don't want to look over their shoulder for government all the time.
Like I said, we can either go stealth with the candidates on our side of the issue but it will remain unspoken or we go openly with the issue being discussed openly.
FYI the name is GALT and the word is "wary". Oohh coupon suzy, what a rack!

Well JG you work on your utopia, I'll work on not getting caught and giving LE free lessons. Speaking of lessons, I don't give a shit how "wary" is spelled. I finished college a long time ago. I'm not working for your grade, I'm trying to help keep people from getting popped. I know perfectly well how to spell (and write and even speak!). But I get on here with a limited time to read and post and really don't spend much of it worrying about spelling and grammar. If you understood what I meant, then it served it's purpose.

It's not that the cops are necessarily bad (although, to want to enforce our current laws is a sign of guilt), but that the sheer number of assinine laws make them dark enforcers, rather than peacekeepers. When I was a child I used to look up to the police as heroes. I grew older, and while I don't participate in any criminal acts other than the hobby, and have never been arrested for anything (yet), I have seen the type of people cops tend to be. I have no respect for them, unless they can learn to uphold the Constitution as they had sworn to do. If there were ever an uprising to restore our nation, who would likely side with the government? While soldiers certainly would, I believe that more soldiers would defect to the side of the people than any cops who would. It takes an authoritarian personality to want to be a cop. They care nothing about you, me, or liberty. They just want to shoot people and continue their power trip. When police lights flash behind you, do you feel safe? I don't.
Ignorance is strength. War is peace. All has been forseen. Double plus good.

I am well aware of where the rabbit hole goes. I am absolutely convinced it is all part of the "New World Order" which has been publicly promoted by name in speeches by George Bush Sr., Henry Kissinger, and Gordon Brown and many more politiians. It isn't a conspiracy when they say it themselves. We are the property of the Banking Elite who own the Federal Reserve who in turn own the Federal Gov't. We'll save that discussion for another thread.
I absolutely agree about the police force. From my experience, the job mostly attracts people who are socially inept, sorely lacking in sef-esteem, and desperately seeking power over others. They are craving a venue in life in which they can assert their domination to feel better about themselves. A lot of cops seem to enjoy making people feel afraid and embarrassed during minor citations like traffic tickets and feed off the powertrip like a drug. The police seem to serve the wishes of the globalists which is much more about enslaving us than protecting us. Although, I do think there are still some good cops out there.

Agreed! And furthermore, there is a thread about that in the Sandbox. I mentioned the same thing you did. Presidents have mentioned the NWO, and Kissinger said Obama would be a good President to implement the NWO (YouTube it folks...the cameras don't lie). I don't think the NWO is as omniscient or sinister as many make it out to be, but I think that the trend toward globalization is self-evident.
