TTH,
So educated yet so ignorant. No one was comparing Glenn Beck and MLK, except apparently now you. Glenn may be alot of things but he is not pompous enough to think he is anything close to the man MLK was.

Actually Beck himself was making a mockery of Dr. King by even attempting to have such an event on such an auspicious anniversary when his message on a day in and day out basis is the antithesis of what Dr. King preached. If you believe the pompous fool's story about not having a clue about the date when he picked it, I have a bridge in New York that you might be interested in buying.
If you are really interested in facts, here's a piece that has lots of facts about Beck's cynical exploitation of Dr. King's words to serve his own evil ends.

I'm torn between looking forward to watching people eat crow on this, and really hoping you're right.
Any person that is 100% Right or Left is dangerous and does not represent the solid foundation of this country. The ease it takes to lash out against something you have no grasp of vs. the strength to actually listen to another point of view ascertains the man.

TTH.
Until Beck chose one day in August for his speech, the vast majority of America, no matter what color, didn't know the exact date King gave his speech.
You really need to get over yourself.
Kayla and I will be holding prayer meetings for you soon.

ACTUALLY he wasn't. Pompous, yes. Foolish sometimes, I agree. Making a mockery, no. Only to people like you who hate him anyways. And mediamatters is such a credible source, I don't know how I can resist not agreeing with you.

Well there you have it... a reference to an unbiased, nonpartisan source with no agenda.
Beck was actually planning this event for months; I think since the beginning of the year and no one was even thinking about MLK. Most of the racial Reverends will tell you they were there and remember "The Dream", but had no intention of honoring MLK or his speech until a couple of months prior to Glenn Beck's event. The best they could do was organize a counter-rally because they beleived Beck was "hijacking" Dr. King's legacy.
If they really believed in Dr. King's Dream, the Reverends should have been there sharing the stage talking about love of country, honor and paying tribute to Dr. King. I don't believe they have the same vision of equality and solidarity.

Kayla: Congrats, I am jealous that you found the time to invest and I didn't. I, too, have spent most of a lifetime listening to both sides of the political spectrum in an attempt to form a "fair and balanced" opinion. I finally decided, sometime in my 50's, that I was an actual functioning adult and had to own my rock solid conservative opinions.
So now I no longer feel the need to listen to the "other side". I have determined (since the mid 1990's) that if their lips are moving they are either lying or they are impuning my common sense and strongly held beliefs.
It has been a liberating decision. And, remember, nothing irritates your opponents more than totally ignoring them.
Congratulations on the strength of your convictions.
Pistol Man

Does this hatred exsist against Dr Kings niece? Dr. Alveta King was one of the best speakers I heard. How in the world would she support something the King legacy would shun?
I think it would be incredible if Sharpton and Beck would share a stage and unite. That would be the true Dream Dr. King had. All this hatred is the disgrace and hijack to the King legacy. Stop and think... just for a second. Really.
There are GOOD people on both sides. Forget the leaders of the movements... the beliefs we follow are good down to the bone core. Faith, Hope, and Charity. Love of your brother. Kindness when there isn't any. If that's drinking koolaid, then I want a gallon.
EDIT:Thank you pistol man. I knew if I didn't go, I'd regret it forever. I'm so used to mean people around me, I had no idea that many good, kind people were left. It changed my life. And you are right My dear PistolMan, ignoring them is necessary if they are unwilling to have open minds and hear the views of others. I've vowed to myself that I will not allow the hatred from others to rule my spirit and influence my thoughts.

Yep, Beck's little deal was surely a Woodstock for the Reactionaries, a real peace, love, live-and-let-live affair bankrolled by Rupert Murdoch and Fox News (oops, they're the same) - Kumbaya, anyone?

Were you there TTH? Did you watch it? Or are you just posting the parts that someone told you should enrage you? What about LK's point that Dr. King's niece was there as a speaker? Did she degrade the "legacy" too or did that little fact just not fit with your theory? These people with which you disagree (hate), do you so blindly hate them that you won't even listen before you judge?
You are an amazingly shallow individual.
