Then how did you convince yourself that Mitt was going to win? I said several times in the last week that I though Obama was going to win. The only way I saw for Romney was if there was some systemic flaw with ALL. The polls in almost ALL the swing States, something that would be highly improbable.

This is a serious question. Obviously a number of intelligent people actually thought Romney had a real shot when it was clear he did not. Why would they think that in light of the State by State polling?

Distance yourself from Hannity, Coulter, Limbaugh, etc. and do not tolerate the hate from the conservative base against non-whites. That's the biggest turn off for the key demographic that any party needs to win elections. I'm reading that the push is to go even further to the extreme, do that at your peril. If you think 2012 was bad, 2016 will look like Reagan's landslide in 1984, but blue. Remember, your key demographic is declining, so if you don't embrace people who are "different", as your demographic goes, the party goes.

The problem is that conservatives want to control our lives as much as liberals do, just in different areas. Rush, Hannity, et. al. are as much a part of the problem as Idiot Ed Schultz, Chris Mathews and Rachel Maddow. As Ron Paul put it, they're just fighting over who gets the loot.

We need a movement based on freedom. We are endowed by our Creator to be able to live our lives with as little government interference as possible. That's what our Founders fought and died for.

I think only hope for conservatives is if they can prove to younger people or hispanics that small government is in their best interests. If they can't do that then they don't deserve to win. I thought Ron Paul was really good at that, but the establishment didn't want him. Romney seems like a decent guy, but he also seems like he stands for nothing...except the establishment.

tbh, I don't know if there will be a future for conservatives, and I don't say that like Yssup Rider or any other statist spiking the football. I wouldn't be shocked if we are like Mexico in the future with one party rule, joke of an economy and corruption at all levels. COG - I agree with you. The question was about conservatives, so my response was addressing the question. The difference with the Chris Matthews, Rachel Maddow is that they don't embrace level of hate and vitriol towards minorities that the conservative media embraces. For example, today a Hispanic lady calls Rush Limbaugh and said that she owns a Marketing firm that specializes in addressing the Hispanic market and that she offered her services for free to the GOP in order to increase their reach towards the Hispanic community. Well, no one was interested and she couldn't help them, not even for free. To top it off, Rush was totally disrespectful and condescending with her. He came across as if he knew everything about Hispanics and pretty much dismissed her. Well, now you have someone who was willing to help disenfranchised. Guess what she'll do? She'll vote against her own interests because of the way she was treated. Keep that up and get ready for red states to turn to blue states in upcoming elections. Hispanics don't want handouts, they want to work and to be left alone, but when they're treated as second class citizens by the right wing media, well, you just pushed them away to the other side.
