That got me thinking. I've seen quite a few posts here on football, basketball etc.....

How many people here watch UFC fights? Do you only watch UFC or other promotions such as Showtime, Bellator etc? Any people here that train in MMA?

What's your prediction for the St. Pierre vs Shields fight.

Who's your favorite UFC fighter and why?
I love watching MMA, UFC, Strikeforce, Bellator. Though I don't train MMA, my 12yr old son does and has been for almost 3yrs now and really enjoys it. I think GSP will win against
Shields. GSP is one my favorite fighters but has recently gotten very boring to watch, he dominates his opponents for 5 rounds and wins by decision that's not exciting to me. Every once in a while you get a fighter that is just dominant for his weight class and I think GSP is him just like Anderson Silva is to middleweight. But, my favorite I have to go with my "Brown Pride" Cain Velasquez. Sorry Sixxbach, I always said Lesnar was overrated, Shane Carwin exposed it but ran out of gas and Cain took advantage of it KHTFO! I've been watching the new season of TUF and Cain left a nasty scar on Brock's left cheek as reminder of the beating he took.

No worries SpeedRacer, it's certainly not everybody's cup of tea. Thanks for your input. Actually, this is one thread we've managed NOT to have an argument in so far

There is no way Shields will beat GSP, quite honestly I don't even know why he is even getting a shot without first fighting Fitch(whom hasn't lost since 2008 to GSP). The Shields fight will be almost a mirror image of of the Koscheck fight except Koschecks takedown skill is a lot better and even he couldn't do much. I am not trying to be a GSP nuthugger but seriously the smart money is not on Shields

Lol, yea its kinda funny were talking about fighting but no fighting going on. Now DT, if you wanted to have a get together and watch the Ufc together like at a SC that would be cool.

I'm always down for that. I used to go to "Joy's" and watch them before they became "Rick's". Lately if I'm home, I've been ordering them on PPV because my SO actually has gotten into them. Even knows how to do an arm bar now, lol!

I gotta be honest lovelamp, I'm glad they didn't make the Shields vs Fitch fight. IMO that would have just been a lay and pray fest. I respect both of them but their styles are definitely boring, even more so than GSP as of late. He usually at least continues to work on the ground in an honest effort to get a submission (look how many times he bent Hardy's arm at every conceivable angle, lol) which can't always be said for the other two.
Here's to hoping we get more stand up than ground fighting with GSP and Shields.

I think we will see more stand up that's why I said it will probably be a repeat of the Koschek fight.

Well, got to see the Strikeforce Diaz vs Daley fights. Definitely not a single lay and pray fight in THOSE match ups. I don't like Diaz but you have to respect the guys heart. He takes punches like few others I've seen and continues coming forward and bringing the fight. There's no quit in him.
I do hope they start making some match ups between some of the top Strikeforce guys vs the top UFC guys.
Melendez brought the heat as well. Good fights. Felt a little sorry for Jardine. I've thought in his last few fights that he should hang up the gloves and this fight confirmed that. I know he took it on short notice but IMO it's more than that. Some of those great fighters from his days, Forrest Griffin, Tito, all those guys have simply been surpassed by the younger more rounded fighters coming up these days.

I really was not a fan of Nick Diaz but he won me over last night. I am glad he put that dude out. I have read that Diaz has in his contract that he can box as a pro and its rumored that he may be fighting Fernando Vargas (who is looking to return and 33 years old). I think it would be a mistake for Diaz. Diaz can trade punches but he won't have the take down or kicks when he punches himself out. Boxers take literally hundreds of hits in a fight. As long as Vargas comes in shape he would demolish Diaz I feel in the same manner Couture demolished Toney in MMA......

sxx
