I think I agree with Kvothe on this one. Looking at her reviews on another site, I would give her a reasonable deposit. Her reviews are more than solid. The rule about "never send a deposit" is a great rule, and it is GREAT advice -- but is it immutable?? -- of course not!! Send a deposit if you are willing to risk the deposit. STG is full of women that I would not send $15 to in advance, but Erin has a very good website and dozens of sparkling reviews -- I would consider a reasonable deposit.

And if I read her screening form correctly, it is not particularly invasive. No one in their right mind sends a driver's license pic, but that is only if you don't have references. The request for two references is not unusual at her level. And frankly, I was always grateful when a woman screens -- that makes her more professional and more likely to fulfill her end of the bargain. And I WANT the woman relaxed and confident that I'm a good guy when I walk in the room and close the door.

I usually agree with Joyote and Dweezle, but I think there are a few exceptions. Thanks for a good review, Kvothe.

I will add that I know a lot of travelling providers from ECCIE and P411 have started asking for deposits because of so many cancellations from "reputable" gents. The issue with deposits have two sides to them. Erin has never shown a disposition to welch on a client. There is always a first time. Some of you on this thread are the exact reason why some providers request a deposit.

Well dang it. I think I’m gonna agree with Diego. If you do research on Erin, she is totally legit and real. I’d make an exception. Perhaps being in Santa Fe, she gets more time wasters or people coming from albuquerque. So a small deposit makes sense.

Not a deposit Fan. I understand cost of doing business and all. I'll concede it goes both ways. It seems to make even more sense when a provider is traveling 60 miles renting a space and using multiple hours to meet. Her quality reviews, referred to, mean something. I guess we expect our reviews to mean something too. Yes some do have ways to check us out fair or not. Kvothe I had a bit to say initially in this thread but it was Shortened/Edited by UC. I guess using adjectives that appeared in the ROS, even in a different context, is a foul. I digress. I was close to visiting with her but balked at the deposit. I've never sent one and prefer to discourage this process. That said it seems that not only sketch scammers want deposits but so do reliable ladies as a number of us have proven anything but reliable. IF I ever do send a deposit it would be a rare one off and sent only if a special trip and accommodation was made for me.

We met a couple months ago in SF. I even did the dreaded deposit thing. She was very lovely. She had tried to contact every one of my dozen or so Okays on P411 that are still in business. We later set up a date in Taos, and suddenly she got cold feet. No reason given.

Did you lose the deposit or did she return it since she is the one that got cold feet?

I finished my first meeting in SF. It was very worth the hassle of a drawn out vetting and deposit process.
The Taos meeting was just about to happen ... no deposit yet.
