Now to answer your question, yes and no. My current policy is when it comes to a shorter (two hour or less) session, I don't require a deposit.
For a multiple hour / day engagement, no the questions in my original post aren't moot. It doesn't matter if someone has booked many dates with me in the past. Regardless of if I've met a suitor a dozen times or if someone new wants to see me, I'm still going to need a portion up front to set aside considerable amounts of time beyond a few hours. I understand that. Perhaps I'm just lucky my arrangement with a certain gal has developed the way it has. But my definition of long term friends is multiple years.

I also want to comment on the electronic trail evidence thing. Yes that could be a concern.
But, if it's a long term friend, why would it still be a concern? Been dating quite a while, prob already know each others rw stuff anyway and trust should have developed.
