I agree that Trump will be in prison if he doesn’t win. I don’t believe that the populism that has infected the republican party is going away however.

The Republican party has traditionally been a party of small government, low taxes and social conservatism for some time now. That is what they would like you to believe but it’s never been proven to be true. The only thing that they have been able to accomplish has been lower taxes, out of control spending and neocon war mongering in the middle east.

The populist movement is a back lash to both the left and right policies that have failed them.

Unfortunately if people can’t come together and work together to solve these issues without resorting to the extremism on both sides then even if Trump is removed I fear that it won’t necessarily make things better.

OK, we get it, you're sure. With a few exceptions like Rand Paul, the Republicans don't say no nearly as often as they should. That's partly why federal debt held by the public is almost $28 trillion.

Well, the only things Democrats have been able to accomplish have been higher taxes, out of control spending and neocon war mongering in the Middle East and Ukraine.

Hopefully Trump's influence will wane at some point in the not too distant future, so the Republicans don't go the way of the Whigs.

Actually they have not been able to do that either. Taxes have not gone up under their administration as far as I can tell. The war mongering started under a republican administration and it took democrats to get out of some of it. Unfortunately spending is still out of control.

P.S. The Abraham Accords and Trump’s support of normalizing ties between Israel and other Middle Eastern states is one of the reasons for the October 7th attacks.

I’m not sure we’ll ever get out of that conflict as long as Iranian proxies continue to actively engage in the region. The suez canal is too important to the world economy to ignore the conflict.
