I got in late last night. So Joe Pags was on the radio. DEM's keep calling into to promote privatizing police. "DUH" that will not work.

Our liberal friends like to say the U.S. is experiencing a two-track pandemic recovery. They’re right about the symptoms but wrong about the diagnosis. The Labor Department’s state jobs report for June, released last Friday, shows an increasing economic divergence between states run by Republicans and Democrats, and the real reasons are worth noting.
|
Quote:
Democratic-led states are also continuing the Democratic Congress’s $300 unemployment benefit bonus through Labor Day, while most Republican governors have ended theirs early. This is probably contributing to the stubbornly high unemployment and slower labor force recovery in Democratic states.
Even President Biden conceded on Wednesday, at his CNN town hall, that “there’s some evidence” that not having to pay rent and “being able to provide for unemployment insurance has kept people from going back to work.” There’s more than some evidence, but we’ll take the concession to reality.

Next you'll be telling me that defunding the police will lead to more crime.....

Speaking of which....
Another "duh" moment.....
The Murder Spike of 2020: When Police Pull Back
A criminologist argues that last year’s unprecedented rise in killings was the result of treating policing as a problem to be solved, rather than an essential part of public order
Quote:
New York City, where murder increased 47% in 2020, provides a clear case of how local factors came to a head. City jails that once held over 21,000 people had fewer than 8,000 inmates by 2019. In January 2020, state bail reforms took effect, spurring the release of about 1,000 inmates just before the pandemic began. In April, another 1,500 inmates were released to prevent the spread of Covid in the jails.
Amid the pandemic, the work of the courts slowed and fewer people were detained for committing crimes. New York police officials reported that in 2020 about 40% of those arrested for gun possession were released on their own recognizance, pending indefinitely postponed prosecution. Meanwhile, in the face of rising protests, proactive quality-of-life stops, tickets and arrests plunged by 90% or more, even as routine requests for police intervention rose by almost 50%.

This can also be described as a "No shilt Sherlock" moment....

San Francisco Has Become a Shoplifter’s Paradise
Walgreens has closed 22 stores in the city, where thefts under $950 are effectively decriminalized.
Local lawmakers have said that Walgreens is too preoccupied with boosting profits, that theft isn’t that bad, and that the chain should just suck up the losses.
Ya gotta love the left.....
Now, couple this with defunding the police and San Fran is about to Darwin itself out of existence.....

Much of this lawlessness can be linked to Proposition 47, a California ballot initiative passed in 2014, under which theft of less than $950 in goods is treated as a nonviolent misdemeanor and rarely prosecuted. Out of concern for safety and potential lawsuits, stores tell employees and security guards not to intervene when they witness a crime. Most suspects, if they are pursued at all by police, are soon released. Californians effectively decriminalized shoplifting. Not surprisingly, they have more of it.
Well duh.....

The Spending Bill Is an Attack on Work and Marriage
A single mom could end up paying thousands more for daycare if she marries. Children will suffer.

The Democratic Guide to Losing Elections
First, tell parents to butt out of schools. Next, imply that mom and dad are racists.
