If a Honda and a Cadillac got the same gas mileage and the total cost of the Cadillac was $10 more than the fucking Honda, would you spend the extra $10, or would you hold on to the $10 and suffer?

Well said and enough said, JR. Coughed up the extra bucks for a MacBook 6-7 years ago
after 3 Windows desktops entered computer hell and never came back. Well worth the
extra $$$ spent; no problems since. No Apple snob here either; they are just way more
reliable without the "you'll get used to it" learning curve.

Yes, you can open almost any program on Windows 8 just like you would on Windows 7.
That being said most people just get thrown off by the tiles. Once you learn how to just bypass this screen and go to the old fashion desktop things fall in place. Unless you like the tiles. If so, then you should see the download for Chrome in the Windows store.
The second is the "Start button". Google, "Pokki start menu" and download and install this. It will add the a version of the start menu back that works very well.
Let me know if you need any help.

Ease of use is worth paying for.
By the way, I happen to use both. I was on the net in 1967, which tells you who I worked for if you think about it; it wasn't Al Gore.

Easy, trigger. I answered her question for free. I run windows, linux, osx and chrome os. I wasn't suggesting anything else, just trying to be helpful and friendly.

Sorry,
Microsoft is cheaper, which means if you put in a lot of computers doing the same thing, like a grocery checkout, simple is cheaper and better. You do the same thing all the time; why pay for something you don't use.

thanks for being so helpful hun. I am starting to get the hang of it now and I actually kinda like it! I watched more tutorials, and I am kinda starting to like this whole app thing, now that I am getting the apps I want in the order I want.
Im also starting to get a hang of where to touch the screen to flip it to the others. And I also like how you can easily multi task with different screens open at the same time. Good for me since I spend a lot of time on eccie and also run another business from online.
Its getting way better! Im sure Ill be a pro by next week LOL

Win Ate-it

All of my folk’s desktops/laptops jumped from XP to Win7 bypassing Vista. You would have thought Microsoft had learned a lesson with Vista. All but one set of folks are hooked into various Win Server 2008 systems. We're telling our folks to wait and stay with 7 on the desk/laps (and brought the last off of XP to 7 over the holidays) until Win 9 comes out, which, according to rumors, is on a fast track cause Network OPs guys will not touch Win “ate-it” (as our fav Mod also mentions), and Linux continues to pick up corporate servers. Win ate-it is a disgrace. But, other than a Mac, that’s all there is for a personal machine.
For Destiny, have you downloaded the service pack to Win 8.1? Yes it's avail. Or did it already have Win 8.1 on it? That helps a smidge. You say that now you’re having fun with the tiles and multi-screen. So: Pick up another monitor and go multi-monitor. Win 8 can handle it easy. Even off a laptop. Consider a nice large game quality monitor as there’s a rumor out of Europe that your fav game may be avail on Win in a couple months.
Last, although not a long legged brunet, here's one of the gals, a redhead?, with a nice rack, a few nice tats, quite trim, that we think is very cute, who works long hours, takes care of clients, and has MAC users on her NCNS list. ijs

I got my first laptop with Windows 8 about 9 months ago.. I didn't have a choice for operating systems. I definitely would not have picked Windows 8. I absolutely hated it at first, the only thing that makes this tolerable is a link I found where you can alter Windows 8 to work/run and look more like Windows XP or Windows 7. This link is from CNET in the United Kingdom. I found it very useful:

I did the same when I was younger, I was told I would go blind. I play with it more often now, I didn't go blind.
It gets easier and stays harder.
Carpenter you only showed us the front of her, why not show her back side.
So we can check out her stack, along with her assets.
My son did all kinds of tricks with his computer and windows 8 program. Looks weird as hell, half 7 and half 8.

2. Tech support questions on a hooker board makes me both weep and chuckle.
3. Destiny has a phat juicy rump!

Microsoft never made computers until the Surface and I just paid over 2K for one so not sure how they are cheaper. If you mean PC's are cheaper, then I guess it depends on what you are looking for. My work laptop was way more than a Mac, but I got 32 GB's RAM, an I7 processor and two SSD drives.
As far as ease of use, I would agree that Mac's are better for every day stuff like surfing the net, printing stuff and checking email, but I couldn't do my job with a Mac unless I installed Windows on it and that would defeat the purpose of having a Mac.
The whole argument of Mac vs PC can never be won either way because it is totally a personal preference, (unless you work in a world where everything is 90% Microsoft).

Been there, done that on both systems plus many others. For all of our work, it is the software that counts and if it ties into anything else - like the operating system.
There are some programs that I have that only run on old computers with a system like DOS; it does the job and that Is all I ask. As far as getting your work done because others have windows; don't believe it. If you write, you can have a Word program on the Mac and use something else like Pages; reserving word for translation, or get another translator.
Feeding iPad, IPhone and a Mac together gives a lot of options. For Data Base work, well for most users that don't do a lot of high end programming try Filemaker: it runs on both Mac and Windows and outperforms anything that you can run on Windows at a low cost. There are other Data Base programs on large servers, but even then Filemaker can serve as a front end to those programs to bring in reports and data and export to spread sheets.
The windows machine is cheaper because Microsoft opened up to operating system to many programers to tweak their programs. Apple did not and they still have the greater control over what software is presented to the user. Thus, it seldom crashes.
Early on I would crash a Mac on a regular basis. The double fork for data meant that everything could be recovered, while everything (and I mean everything) would have been gone on a Microsoft machine.
But cheap hardware and limited programing has it's place, and it is a big place called data input. With just data input and viewing like a Wall Mart Cash Register you do not want the operator to have very many options.
That is a different world than a system where the user does a lot of things all at once.
Windows and Mac are two different systems, and windows has always tried to copy the Mac - good for them. But they keep building and building on a flawed operating system that has tied some of the software to the operating system.
Thus, the Mac is more secure and has few of the problems seen on Windows. I have had concerns about the Intel chip that Apple added several years ago, but so far there have been few problems.
I can do this all day. But it is time to stop. I have three machines that has both the Windows and the Mac operating systems installed together. The other Machines on people's desks are Macs. Equipment operations and data log stuff is all older windows stuff, which is getting harder to get. Ladder logic stuff is on other stuff.
I thought I left all of this stuff behind in 1970 when I left the main frame stuff. Lots of luck. Looks like computers have reached a place where we can't get by without them.
