The answer is no.
We live in a different World than we did the last time the entire World was at war. In WW-2, we had the ability to kill thousands in conventional weapons application.
Now we have the ability to kill millions of our enemies in minutes.
And they have the ability to return the mayhem.
It is a shame that in the enlightened age of the 21st century, we still have mass populations ruled by Thugs and Despots.

Well I would say no except that if we do allow the ChiComs to invade Taiwan, all of our strategic relationships are null and void. We will cease being a global super power. China will become the economic center of the globe and we will essentially be in the position of the UK post WWII.
You can make an argument that that's a good thing or it's a bad thing. I think it's likely to happen regardless. Too many people here think that we can just vote ourselves money indefinitely. Economies do not work like that and historically, we've run our course as a nation. With the importation of a new electorate, we are losing our national identity and cohesiveness. Likely any armed response to a Taiwan invasion is going to lead to further balkanization of the States.

Joey Bribes will do what China tells him to do. They bought him years ago. Along with many in our government. If Joey Bribes goes to war with China, it won’t be to win.

It's not what we'd send... it's what we'd allow the ChiComs to do... a couple of SSNs in the Straits of Formosa and a good deal of the Chicomms sealift would be sitting on the bottom of the sea.
The chicoms don't have infinite resources either and sending the right ships to the sea floor would really make their invasion difficult. Taiwan is not an easy nut to crack for the ChiComms.. if they were smart (they are) they'd undermine the country from within... but it's probably not as easy to buy as our Democrats were.

We are afraid to send Mig's to Ukraine but we are going to sink Chinese war ships? Never going to happen. The very best we could do/ will do for Taiwan, would be the same thing we are doing with Ukraine, supplies and nothing more. Supplies we do not have and we will surely be at war with China if we sink Chinese ships.

Ha! But we have an infinite supply of made up outta thin air dollars to bury them in. Heck, we already gave Ukraine ~$62B of the made up stuff - AND that's before RECONSTRUCTION has even started.

I support defending Taiwan militarily, but our ambiguous position was a tool that we used and now Biden is giving it away. Will they or won't they is what China has been asking for years. Do we want this war? Will this cause a war? If we plan for no response to the USA and they come, are we ready?
Now, they can count on the USA responding and so they can plan for that. Forward position some submarines to intercept naval fleets. Pound the US airfields in Guam, Okinawa, and Japan. Electronic attacks (we know the USA is coming to everything is ready), biological attacks, media attacks, domestic terrorist attacks, attempts on the lives of the leadership in the Pentagon and Washington, and media attacks.
Like all democrats, Biden does not know how to use power, just abuse it.

heres the thing. despite its size, the quality of the chinese navy is unknown.
they really do not have a long history of maritime warfare.
this will be more of a naval warfare. U.S. submarines will be the key to defending Taiwan.
combo attack subs/arsenal subs would provide some type of screen for taiwan, also to serve as early warning network.

Exactly. Biden just sealed the fates of thousands of service members in teh coming years... when China does come for Taiwan (and it will before the decade is out), they will be prepared to attack all those targets... If they sink a CVN, we're going to end up throwing nukes at each other....

Which is why we are not going to get in a "ship sinking" war with China. We should do our very best at helping Taiwan with supplies and military information but we can not sink one single Chinese ship because it's like eating potato chips, you can't stop at one. We should have started chip manufacturing and every other necessity provided by China the first time China started talking about taking Taiwan but we didn't. Then, we could do our very best to help the Taiwanese just like Ukraine, without military intervention like Naval ships sinking Chinese ships.
We all know where that ends. Isolate China and Russia at any cost...... starting now.
And fuck LeBron James and the NBA and fuck Nike and any other company involved in China but alas, Americans just aren't that smart to look ahead like the Chinese do.

You hope. I expect it to be inevitable. The Reagan is forward deployed for a reason... and you don't keep building these ships if you aren't going to use them... otherwise scrap them and let's build something useful.

Maybe that means the ChiComs deserve the Win. The communists indeed sold us the rope with which we will hang ourselves... just the vendor is Asian not Russian as we always expected.

Who has who in their pocket? ^^^^ The echo chamber above. HELLO. (Hello hello)
A first in Yellowstone, as man in Tesla proves his ‘ingenuity’
https://ftw.usatoday.com/2022/05/a-f...-his-ingenuity
Quote:
“I thought the person was trying to charge the car and that was why I pulled over, and perhaps they needed help,” Sterbenz told USA Today/For The Win Outdoors. “I also thought maybe the Tesla needed service since the wires went under the hood, or maybe it needed to connect. After seeing the person seemed okay, I drove on.”
“I was a bit jealous I didn’t have that setup so I could jump on Webex calls. I had never seen anyone with a portable Starlink roadside on the hood in the park. Takes ‘work from home’ to a whole new level; ‘work from really anywhere.’”

Beijing needs the ability to 'destroy' Starlink, say Chinese researchers
https://www.theregister.com/2022/05/...link_takedown/
Quote:
The authors also expressed concern over the ability of Starlink satellites to quickly change orbits via ion thrusters as an offensive move, or for military payloads to be disguised as Starlink machines and sent into orbit undetected.
This means China will need upgraded surveillance systems to detect the fakes and, according to Ren, the ability to intercept Starlink signals to look for threats.
Should China take down Starlink, there are more satellite broadband systems to follow. Amazon's 3,236 Project Kuiper birds are ready for flight.
China also has its own megaconstellation in progress, called Xingwang or SatNet. The Chinese Starlink analog was established in 2021 and is slated to contain around 13,000 satellites.
