Biden exercised his “parole” authority, which, under a 1952 law, allows him to admit people “only on a case-by-case basis for urgent humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit.”
But people admitted into the country under parole have no path to citizenship. They can obtain work permits for a limited time but voters must be U.S. citizens.
Biden has exercised parole authority far more than any of his predecessors, which Trump calls “an outrageous abuse” that he will end if returned to the White House. Biden has granted entry — by land or air — to at least 1 million people using parole, not just the 327,000 who flew from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua or Venezuela though December.
Angelo Fernández Hernández, a White House spokesperson, said Wednesday that reports of secretly flying people into the country were “categorically false” and that Cubans, Haitian, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans were “thoroughly screened.”

You don’t want immigrants? Then tell grandma she can never retire.
Excerpts from a great article in the washington post.
As I’ve noted before, immigrants are driving the U.S. economic boom. That is: The United States has escaped recession, hiring growth has exceeded expectation, and inflation has cooled faster than predicted — all largely because immigration has boosted the size of the U.S. labor force. Don’t just take my word for it; ask the Federal Reserve chair or Wall Street economists.
As a result, all of the new job growth since the pandemic, on net, has been due to foreign-born workers. That is, if you stripped away immigrants, there would be no more people employed today than was the case before covid.
And, if current immigration trends continue — which they might not, depending who wins in November — immigration is likely to boost our fortunes in the years ahead: The Congressional Budget Office recently revised upward its 10-year gross domestic product projections by $7 trillion, attributing the increase to immigration-driven labor force growth. Our longer-term fiscal challenges also look better, since immigrants pay taxes and are much less likely than native-born Americans to (ever) qualify for benefits, including programs such as Medicare and Social Security.
Yet, somehow, the Trumpy right argues that greedy, freeloading immigrants are simultaneously stealing both our jobs and our precious tax dollars. In reality, they’re beefing up both.

It’s cheap labor that we need now and for the foreseeable future. Some people are just not willing to admit that. Do you think Europe is taking in so many refugees just because. Of course not. They need those resources just as much as we do. It’s to our benefit that we integrate these migrants quickly and efficiently. Get them moved from purgatory into full blown citizenship.

New Bureau of Labor Statistics data shows that while 637,000 foreign-born workers joined the U.S. labor market in the last year, almost 300,000 native-born Americans fell out of the workforce.
so the great economy is really just great for foreigners...

https://www.forbes.com/sites/jackkel...the-workforce/
In 2022, around 58 million adults ages 65 and older were living in the U.S., accounting for about 17.3% of the nation's population. This percentage is expected to soar, with the older demographic projected to represent 23% of the total population by 2050—a 47% increase.
The U.S. faces a labor shortage of carpenters, electricians, plumbers and other skilled tradespeople, which could have serious implications for the economy, as nearly half of tradespeople are approaching retirement age. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, more than 40% of workers in this sector are over the age of 45.
These workers will need to be replaced. We can and should fill the unskilled jobs with new immigrants which will allow US born workers the opportunity to move into better jobs. Young immigrants will be able to fill those positions vacant not now but in the next few decades as more and more people age out of the workforce.
This transition is going to take place eventually. Again it’s to our benefit if we fix the immigration system now with a plan for the future rather than litigating the past. What we don’t want is a sub-class of people who are marginalized and not able to access the schooling and resources necessary to fill the jobs we need them for.

to send out the illegals with mass deportations??
The American people want the illegals OUT!

My Wife's father came from Venezuela in the 1920s when his father had business in the USA. My wife's maternal side came here in the 1600s when New York belonged to the Dutch. . . .they were the only folks to not go through the screening at Ellis Island. These folk all arrived in an above board fashion with full knowledge of he is controlling authorities.
WE do, as a Nation, need to have regular infusions of immigrants. But what we have today is an unregulated, uncontrolled and untracked influx of foreign nationals by the millions. Many of these people are considered undesirable in their homelands. Many of these people have exotic illnesses endemic to their home countries, but essentially unknown or rasr here. Some have skills and education that could contribute to our society, but the great majority do not. A significant proportion were career criminals at home and continue to prey on society here in the US. It is a sure thing tht among the unknown, untraceable millions who have entered the country since 2020, there are organized sleeper cells of terrorists or special operations folks waiting orders from their various controllers at home.

That's true but there was a system in place. My ancestors came over from Italy as well and landed on Ellis Island where the Immigration screening process would begin. They would get a meal, a shower, medical exam ect. Some immigrants were turned away for various reasons. At that time in history America had a need to build it's labor force and the overall economy by accepting immigrants from Europe. Now there is no system there is no rhyme or reason. The present system is dysfunctional and will only congest the country with individuals that have no business being here.

And we can do things like that again. . . .but first we must close the border.
There are plenty of "newcomers" here already. So we will have suffucient time to work through how to revamp and imorove our overall systm of regulating immigration.
In the meantime, while the immigration system is being re-worked, we can begin to deal with those who are already here . . .just as they would have been at the Ellis Island in the past.
Their tavel documents will be reviewed. Anyone who has broken the law will be returned to their homeland. Those who have a valid passport and visa will be allowed to stay.. . . .just s it wass for our family members.
This does not need to be a hysterical mass roundup. We can work through the current millions as they come to the attention of the authorities. The first ones will be those who were habitual criminals in their home countries of course, as they continue to be criminals.
Others will com to light as they look for work or apply for social services and cannot prove they have legal status such as a work visa.
Eventually most will be returned to their place of origine where they can apply for the proper paperwork at an embssy or councilor office. . . .just as our ancestors did.

I think so too but Immigration has become a political thing and it is an injustice to the immigrants and to the American citizens. It just goes to show to show how dysfunctional America has become.

We don't need labor cheap or otherwise. What we need is a sound system of Government that works efficiently for all. As it currently stands this country is in total disarray because corrupt people are running all areas of Government.

Enjoy the decline... it will be slow at first, until it's not.. then it will be overnight. It's not predestined, but representative democracy is not meant for an immoral people.

The days when an immigrant "right off th boat" (no disparagement intended) could go to work for Henry Ford with no knowledge of English or the ability to read in any language are one. All that work in manufacturing is now done by robot machines. AI will only enhance that. Does anyone here recal George Jetson sitting in his comfy chair and pushing the
START button at Spalcely Sprockets? That day is nearly upon us.
America no longer needs thousands (millions?) of unskilled, uneducated workers from Ireland to dig the Erie Canal by hand. Nor do we need thousands coolies from China, (again, no insult intended) to lay tracks for the Trans Continental Railroad.
What we do need is a streamlined system for screening, in their home country, and qualifying educated, skilled men and women from anywhere in the world who can fill jobs already identified by employers here in the US.
We do not need folks who have already broken the law before encoung any US official here in the USA.
