I agree with all that say subsidizing flood insurance is wrong. If the government was not controlling that market private insurers would step in. Most people could probably not afford the insurance but it would be available. Those that can't afford it would simply have to live where they can afford like everyone else.

To say the government has to do it because of farmers is silly. Farmers farm land they do not live on all the time.

Does it matter if you live on it? If the crops and equipment get wiped out in the flood, you still need insurance, even if you live 10 miles away on higher ground.
