I have yet to hear anyone talk about volcano eruptions and CO2 emissions from them.

I don't recall any of the CO2 people explaining why the volcanic activity that gave us 1800-And-Froze-To-Death, The Year With No Summer, didn't end civilization.

ONE (1) volcano eruption puts more CO2 into the atmosphere in one blast than all of human activity for a year. Where is that figured in? How much of the warming is due to Mt Pinatubo and Mt St Helens?

Gore is a fucking opportunist. He saw an opportunity to make millions by using global warming to strike fear in liberals. Liberals in turn bought into his crap and have spent millions buying his "green credits". Scientistics have shown that this is a cyclic event. The earth goes through global warming then freezing every so often.

As for the ice caps melting and causing flooding ... well simple middle school science classes show otherwise. I guess Gore and most liberals never took the class that showed how you can fill a glass (or bucket or whatever you want) with ice then add water until the water reaches the very top. Amazingly, as the ice melts the water never flows over the brim. Why? Because the air trapped in the ice diplaces an equal amount of water it is placed in and keeps part of the ice afloat. As the ice melts, the oxygen is released and doesn't effect the water level. But according to essense this is too complex of a subject to understand .. especially for liberals.

Human caused global warming is horseshit. Water vapor makes up ninety seven percent of all greenhouse gases. Human produced CO2 is miniscule. It's no accident all the global warming fanatics are left wingers. Forcing developed countries to cut back on CO2 production is just a way of crippling capitalism and replacing it with socialism. Remember Obama's choice for "Green Czar" was Vann Jones, a full blown Marxist loon.

Obama's Energy Secretary, Steven Chu, said we should paint all the roofs, highways, and parking lots white to fight global warming. You can't make this stuff up!

30 years ago the earth was going to freeze up. Whats changed in 30 years that we are now overheating?
Don't tell me hydrocarbon emissions, look at what has gone on with automobile emissions in that time.

This bullshit has been going on for ages

I assume you are pulling our legs? Air in ice? Release of oxygen?

Very funny. I hope it is a joke, otherwise CoG will have to eat his words on 'everybody knows'.

for a more scientific explanation from about.com
"A water molecule is made from one oxygen atom and two hydrogen atoms, strongly joined to each other with covalent bonds. Water molecules are also attracted to each other by weaker chemical bonds (hydrogen bonds) between the positively-charged hydrogen atoms and the negatively-charged oxygen atoms of neighboring water molecules. As water cools below 4°C, the hydrogen bonds adjust to hold the negatively charged oxygen atoms apart. This produces a crystal lattice, which is commonly known as 'ice'.

Ice floats because it is about 9% less dense than liquid water. In other words, ice takes up about 9% more space than water, so a liter of ice weighs less than a liter water. The heavier water displaces the lighter ice, so ice floats to the top."

My original post was more elementary in hopes it would be understood by simpler minds but apparently not.

It still amazes me that liberals make comments about religious people by saying "they believe in something they cannot see" but have no problems buying "green credits" which exist only in the mind of Al Gore and benefit only Al Gore and his liberal opportunists. Go figure.

Default Lights on, Lights Off, Danielson

You Tea Pukes don't worry about GW but are ok with spending 4 plus TrILLION dollars on fighting terrorist .

When the fact is...you stand a better chance of being struck by lightening than killed by a terrorist!

Talk about some dumb muther fuckers!

Let's go to war with Iraq! ....cause we're scared! YeeHaw!

You silly fucs still ordering freedom fries?

Are any of you silly TeaNutters starting to see why i make fun of you so?

You dismiss GW but pee your pants over something that has worse odds of killing you than lightening! You have a way better chance of being killed by a gun but none of you silly fuckers want to ban guns! I swear, you're like a bunch of 2 year olds, scared of the God Damn dark.

http://blogs.riverfronttimes.com/dai..._in_500000.php
Odds of Dying in Terrorist Attack on Airline: 1 in 25 million; Struck by Lightning: 1 in 500,000

And while politicians elbow each other for a chance to grandstand about the failed terrorist plot, they choose to ignore other issues that kill a lot more Americans each year than terrorists ever could hope to.

These include the nation's 50 or so daily murders resulting -- in part-- from America's notoriously lax gun laws (giving the U.S. a homicide rate six times greater than that of most developed nations) and the 120 or so daily fatalities stemming from traffic accidents -- many of which could be eliminated by lower speed limits.

Instead our elected officials are locked in what Campos calls the "politics of cowardice"-- the cynical exploitation of fear for political gain -- that makes terrorists winners even when their plans fail or are foiled. Meanwhile, millions of American travelers are greatly inconvenienced over something that in all likelihood will never happen to them.

A companion piece in the Wall Street Journallays out the statistics. Since 2000, the odds of you dying as a result of a terrorist act aboard a commercial American airliner is 1 in 25 million. The odds of getting struck by lightning: 1 in 500,000.

Yes, you have a 50 times greater chance of being struck by lightning than dying from a terrorist attack on an airplane. Scary numbers indeed

Well, THAT was certainly a relevant post in this thread, WPF. Did you find something on Wiki and wonder where to post it?

To be accurate Essence he didn't say oxygen, he said air and by that I assume that he means the combination of gases surrounding us and not one in particular. When ice forms it tends to break things apart so it is true that it expands when freezing. Part of that is air trapped inside the ice and the other part is the lattice.

Now as to volcanic activity; the so-called Ozone Hole in the Antarctic is directly above an active volcano. The hole was discovered in 1947 but some people like to believe it formed in 1947. That is wrong. There is no evidence of when it was formed. However, photographs of the hole growing in size and shape corresponds to volcanic activity. The more active the volcano, the larger the hole. What destroys ozone? Extremely cold air, direct solar radiation, and hydrochloric gas like from a volcano.

Also WTF dearie, the number you are searching for is 1.2 trillion that has been spent on the two wars. Not four trillion. If you think that getting hit by lightning is more likely then why don't we book you a trip to Egypt under the name Steinberg.

Now you are just trying to lie (badly). Most terrorist deaths occurred at the World Trade Center in the building and not on the plane. Some dead at an embassy, some more dead on a navy ship, some more dead alongside a road, a couple of dead on the streets of New York City, some more dead on a cruise ship, some dead on a bus, some dead on a train...notice how your numbers only talk about planes and now you look very stupid.

Most of those murders that you scream about (like a girl) happened in cities with strict gun control. So once again you lie badly.

For the record (though you won't believe it) I have come within a couple of seconds of being hit by lightning twice. Just not quite in the wrong place at the wrong time but I was heading there.

.

. According to a recent Brown University study, the wars and their ripple effects have cost the United States $3.7 trillion, or more than $12,000 per American.
