What his base likes is his name calling. Too bad he is not on this site.
On the other hand, how long would he last ?

The only one that matters is DeSantis. He's the only threat to Trump.. and I think he has recognized that if he doesn't handle this correctly, he will never hold national office. He needs the Trump voters...

many of DeSantis's positions are the same as Trump. border security and America First being two big ones. DeSantis is the only one that can win the nomination over Trump. the rest are losers. don't agree DeSantis would never hold national office if he doesn't get the nomination this cycle. he's only 44 he has plenty of time.
Reagan failed in 1976 against Ford only to win the nomination and the presidency in 1980 against Cater. some strategists think DeSantis should sit out this cycle and let Trump win the nomination and then win or lose in the general election. if Trump wins then it's his second term and he can't run again clearing the way for DeSantis to run without having to compete against Trump. if Trump loses he's done politically. and again DeSantis can run in 2028 with Trump being a political lame duck.
i think DeSantis will enter the race not because he thinks he can get the nomination over Trump which he can if he runs a solid campaign but because Biden is a joke and very beatable.

Yeah... critically, Reagan didn't torpedo Ford at the convention when he had the opportunity to do so. Agree. I want a fight for the nomination so that we have conservatives involved... but I want Trump if only to completely destroy this bullshit making the world safe for faggots foreign policy BS.

Well then Trump's base has a lot in common with Texans at the Alamo, Branch Davidians at Waco, or Jews at Masada.
Trump can't win the general election in 2024. Maybe his base is 35% of the electorate and another 10% will vote for him over a Democrat. But the other 55% hate his guts and are highly motivated to vote, especially after he tried to steal the 2020 election.
The Republicans lost seats in 2018 and 2020 with Trump leading the party. In 2022 we lost the Senate because of him. He lost the presidential election in 2020 by 7 million popular votes and 74 electoral votes. Trump's a loser, even against a poor candidate like Joe Biden. He even lost the popular vote to Hillary Clinton!
That's not to say that his administration didn't do some good things, like the corporate tax cut, deregulation, Operation Warp Speed, and not getting us into any new wars. There probably wouldn't be a war in Ukraine if Trump were president. Before COVID hit, unemployment was at 50 year lows, and for the first time since the Clinton administration, the middle class was truly gaining ground in terms of income and purchasing power.
But still Republicans might as well slit themselves in the throat as run Trump for President, because he won't win. And he'll drag down the down ballot candidates.

I’m rooting for Trump. It’ll take him destroying the Republican Party for real republicans to take back control.

Not two entirely
" For 2024, The Dems Win No Matter What."
Imma say nope for two reasons:
- The Dims think Trump is MAGA
- The Dims think MAGA is a marginal minority
Apologies that the Twit vids don't embed correctly. Site admin should fix that in our lifetime

If the Republicans decide to run a third candidate on some independent ticket, the Dems win 80 percent of the Electoral College.
The only way the the Republicans win is for Trump to bow out and tell his supporters that no matter what, vote, and vote Republican.

Jackie is exactly right, I'm afraid. Mighty Machiavellian of the Manhattan D.A.'s office to indict Trump on flimsily supported felony charges, wasn't it? This will energize Donald's ardent base like nothing else and suck all the political oxygen from the air, while he bludgeons a half-dozen or so "non-Trumps" one-by-one as soon as any of them gain a few points in the polls.
Then "The Donald" will almost certainly lose the general election, while likely costing Republicans the House to boot. Among others, millions of seething women, pissed off about Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization (among other things), will see to that.

Fight for what? Who seriously believes that Donald will fight for much of anything other than his own self-aggrandizement? He's angry, bitter, and frustrated.

Spot on.
But what if Trump somehow, against all odds, actually squeaks through to a general election victory next year and regains the presidency?
I'm afraid we'd see nothing more than an exceedingly ugly vendetta tour, with Donald spending all his energy on efforts to wreak vengeance upon those he feels disrespected or didn't pledge sufficient fealty to him.
How much more obvious could it possibly be that both parties need a reset and a wholesale new infusion of fresh blood?
Looks like we're stuck with trying to muddle through the next 5-10 years with progressives holding the higher cards, almost ensuring repeated economic and political crises. With any kind of luck, real leadership might appear and rise to the occasion, like during so many difficult times throughout our nation's history. But I'm afraid we shouldn't be awaiting such happy days with bated breath.

We are indeed living in interesting, albeit Hollywood-ville, times

This Kabuki Theater is scripted in Hollywood-ville! Faggit about the Okey-Doke shuffle subplot and dead-ends like "popular vote". There are obvious and specific reasons the "popular vote "is not the metric or manner of electing a President and focus on the main story line and starring actors.
The match up the CF-Ts are pitching is Gavin Newsom versus Ron DeSantis. Have ya'll not noticed how many times Gavin has been teeing off on Ron and Florida in general? You think he's just bloviating to make himself look better on the home front or something altruistic, like trying to recapture lost tourist dollars?
They are 100% dead set on creating that match - because they know they can win that horse race. How many times has the LambSCREAM media regurgitated that story line? In fact, they are counting on it by bestowing Trump with a modicum of air-time to get Trump to spew on Ron to give the underdog some sympathy points. And it is points-a-plenty Ron needs in the current RNC primary match up. Especially since trying to cast Nikki Haley in the under dog role didn't pan out.
What? You don't think they gots the RINOs on board too? They ain't stingy on greez'n the skids on either side of the aisle for political gain, more accurately - to avoid loosing POWER. Remember all those stories on the LambSCREAM media about how Trump would still be eligible to run for office even if convicted of every single trumped up and bogus charges? Oh wait, they have not mentioned that - evah!. Of course, they do tend to gloss over most everything in the Constitution.
FFS, where have people been the past 6+ years? Is keeping score a lost art in this day and age? Do people not see how terrified the CF-Ts have been of Trump the whole, entire, every waking moment of Trump since before he curb stomped old Hitlery? Even with the whole bought-n-paid for Russia, Russia, Russia dossier and 16 intelligence agencies, all the other LawFare group shenanigans and clap-trap BS upon BS, Antifa, BLM and the covid mountains they have hurled at Trump, not to mention the Lost City of Gold - two impeachments and there he stands on the top of the mountain still.
Oh I get it, a lot of people like rooting for the Hollywood-ville made underdog (Ron in this case). It's human nature and it sells tickets. But I always rooted for Iron Man Mike Tyson when he was boxing - simply because I knew that the only person that could ever beat Iron Mike was the Champ himself. But you never wanted to be late getting to an Iron Man Mike match because it could be Done in Sixty Seconds.
Root for the Champ, Pray for the Chump(s), that go up against him, and enjoy their fear.
We have a Country to save! You want a Champ or a Chump running point?
