Ventimiglia??!! Ugh. Just go back across the border and go to Nice proper. Or hell, go up in the hills. Mougin, St. Paul de Venice, etc.
London is awfully close to Paris.
LA?? Who wants to be there for more than a long weekend.
Of the three, I'd pick SF, but leave immediately and go somewhere in the East Bay. Berkeley, preferably.

If you really want to escape Paris, Los Angeles is definitely the most different of the three options, culturally, and would also have the best weather if your "forced exile" is taking place in the winter. California has lots of natural beauty outside of the big cities. I would say go to San Francisco or L.A.! London is so close to you and an easy trip—you might be tempted to go back to France before you meant to? It's rare to have an open invitation to stay somewhere for free on the other side of the Atlantic.

Thank you! Actually that was where I was living before Paris and had several clients in he entertainment industry, I should have used those! People keep telling me that I need to write a book, so that is my project during my "exile".

I have an update I am actually going to all three. I have a friend who I am going to LA with, then heading up to SF to see my dad, then going to London and then will be back to Paris.

Lucky you! Sounds like a great vacation. If you want any advice or recommendations in San Francisco (and slightly less so in Los Angeles), let me know!

Yes--I'm not quite a native Californian, but feel like one!

In LA, its rare to find a native californian, so when I lived there, I was a rare breed indeed.

Indeed! I almost never meet a true Native Californian, and I have lived there off and on for 35 years. It seems to me that when two people meet in Cali, the one who has been there longest is considered a "Native Californian"
Guess all the true native-borns should consider it a compliment - it is a beautiful and unique place.
