TFP/TFCD Photography! NO Charge/Fee!

Personally I dont have an issue of anyone wanting to learn or gain experience in photography. We all started off somewhere.

I think what causes the biggest issue for a lot of photographers is when a novice makes a post (such as this) in an area where they (pros) are trying to gain a foot hold and make a buck.

Carrie, you may have no issues with the local barflies getting what they can at the bars. They are of no concern because they are no threat. If those same girls started posting ads for free services right next to yours, things would be a little different.

Granted, they may not have the talents that you do nor will the client get the same service. He will on the other hand get the same result... release.

With photographers... the client will not get the same service or product but in the end will get new images. The quality may be questionable pending the shooter but they are new and current and will be used.

In both cases here is what happens- a potential client is taken off the market for a period of time costing someone revenue.

My suggestion for new photographers has always been and always will be this:

You have family and friends. Wear them out. Once they no longer wanna play model, then hire professional models or work TF* with them. Once you have your skills down then tell everyone else to step aside cause you're coming through!

This is a HOOKER BOARD in case you didn't notice photofantasies, and there are plenty of girls who actually do practically give it away for free around here lol. You don't see me pitching a fit everytime some hottie charges half of what I do and does even more do you? You know why? Because that's not what most will consider professional conduct...just a thought.

My friend Megan also does ladies shoots for FREE, and it's her choice. If she wants to use the correct forum to advertise it, so be it. As long as it does not violate the rules of THIS board, it will remain and you just might start seeing more of it since everyone now knows how much it upsets you lol.

Now, if you get out of line again you will force me to go to Texas of all places, and beat your azz!!

Agreed. Im a full time photographer with a full running studio and there is nothing wrong with your post.. we all started somewhere.. and also its not free, its trade. You give time for photos.. just cause no cash exchanged doesnt make it free. You will also not gain enough experience shooting your same friends and family over and over again.. variety of subjects and light will help you learn more..

If a pro photographer gets in a tizzy for this post or any ads for trade to learn.. they can go kiss butt.. ALL PROS started this way.. They need to get over themselves.. if they are worried about your post then they suck and are a baby.

All photographers started out somewhere. If you can't handle the competition, then maybe its time to find a career where there is no competition. Good luck with that one. lol

Thanks everyone for your input. And I wasn't posting this to offend/hurt anyone or their "business".

I've been on ModelMayhem for a few years as a model and then before coming back on here I built a new pro on there as a Photographer. I also occasionally post up on CL and have a shoot lined up for next Tues My sister is a model and actress and I have shot her a few times, my kids, pets, scenery... but I'm wanting experience with new models, angles, concepts/ideas and building the confidence/technique of shooting with a "stranger".

Hope everyone is having a great week and message me any ladies/couples/men that are interested in shooting.

Try doing a photographer profile on MM and cast for some ladies. You only need 4 to start one. They offer 15 photos now for the basic profile. Ive always hooked up with cool ladies on MM when I was doing TF to build my book. I still do it sometimes for my own fun projects. If you can try hooking up with MUA's and stylists, they really help set the image off. A pro makeup job makes Such a difference.

Brook also watch, I have seen many ladies post wanting there pictures done. But just can not afford it do to many circumstances in their life who just can't wing it.

I have always done my own until recently. I am probably going to get reamed, but here it goes. I did have Tom do my pictures. I have met Tom, and really believe he didn't mean this come out the way it looks. He is a gentle soul, softy, makes every attempt to please you.

Yes he probably could have done it differently. Haven't we all come off in a bad way one time or another behind this keyboard? No he shouldn't feel threatened because he does do a excellent photo shoot and truly has some wonderful references. (That's why I chose him)

I have met and know a few of you here, I even recommended Tom to a few of you and I am sorry if this has changed your mind. But it is your choice whom ever you choose. I can only attest to my experience and those who know me know I am as straight as they come.

I actually didn't want to make any more posts in this thread, because I didn't want it to deflect any more attention away from Brook and her thread. This is HER thread, and I am so sorry it has become a forum about me. That was in NO way, my intention. I actually had posted another post yesterday, but took it down for THAT reason (although I'm sure that post has been widely distributed by now)

I have sent Brook a personal apology via PM, but I wanted to write this last post as a public apology.. not because I feel like I NEED to, but because I feel like it is the right thing to do. There is NO excuse for my behaviour, so I will make none. That is most certainly NOT who I am. Many of the posts in this thread have really hurt me deeply, because they paint me to be the exact opposite of who I am and what I stand for. I am really someone who will give anything to anyone without a second thought.. anyone here who knows me can attest to that, but sadly I know I will never have the opportunity of meeting the rest of you because you think I am some kind of ogre. That DOES affect me very, very deeply and makes me very sad.

This is Brooks thread, and after this post, I will stay out of it. I wish nothing but great things for her in her career, and I told her so in my PM to her. Perhaps in some twisted way, I have helped her by creating such a controversy in this thread, that it has brought her more visibility than she would have otherwise received. To the rest of you I can only say I'm sorry if I offended you, and I hope in your hearts, you can forgive me if I have. I think we have probably all responded too hastily a time or two and said things we wish we could take back.. but it happens, and I apologize .. I guess it was me this time.
