The accusation of bribery has not been brought as a legal charge or litigated in any way yet, so for now it is an allegation . . . right?

But I would point out that taking a bribe is one of the explicitly named crimes in the body of the Constitution for which a president may be impeached.

Taking an emolument of any kind in return for a political consideration is much different from the grey shaded concept of "collusion".

World leaders "collude" all the time. That is, they consult with one another in the course of addressing the international issues of the day. As we have seen recently, charging someone with collusion is like standing on quicksand. If a president colluded with a foreign leader in a way that damaged the Nation, that would be "treason", which, like bribery, is explicitly named as an impeachable offense in the Constitution.

Bribery is a crime with clearly defined elements. There must be a quid pro Quo for one thing. One party must be shown to benefit in some way, perhaps they get money. The other party must b shown to have gotten something in return. Perhaps a customs agent just looks the other way. Perhaps a spy balloon is not shot down till it completes it;s mission.

It took severl years for the Watergate scandal to come to a boil. This bribery thing is justnow on a simmer.
